What should you wear when riding a quad through mud and fords?
The Finntrail ATV collection brings together clothing for quad riders based on what reaches you in the saddle: water in a ford, mud spray from the wheels, rain and headwind. - •When the route crosses streams and flooded ruts: waders with wading boots keep your legs dry while the wheels turn in the water.
- •When it rains and mud flies from the front wheels: a membrane suit or bib trousers keep out both water and spray.
- •A long day in the saddle in cool weather: thermal underwear and fleece under the membrane keep sweat from chilling you when you stop.
- •When the quad takes you to a fishing or hunting spot: SATELLITE 1721 attaches to the rack, and MUDBAG bags bring wet gear home separately.

Start with the route: will you ride through water, or only in rain and mud? Then add layers for the weather and protection for your face, hands and belongings.

- •Replacing impact protection. The clothing in this collection protects against water, mud and wind, but has no armour or certified protectors.
- •Crossing a ford in rain trousers. Water will get in through the trouser hems and the tops of your boots, so for anything deeper than the shin choose waders.
- •Winter in a membrane suit alone. Rain gear does not warm you; only the thermal layers worn underneath keep out the cold.
Frequently asked questions
Is a rain suit enough for crossing a ford on a quad?
No, if the water comes above your boots. Rain trousers and bib trousers protect against spray and rain, but only waders with neoprene socks or integrated boots let you stand or wade in water.
How should I dress for quad riding in late autumn?
In layers: thermal underwear next to the skin, a fleece or MASTER jacket over it, and a membrane suit on top. While riding, sweat evaporates, and the warmth stays when you stop for a rest or to cast a line.
Where should I pack things so they stay dry on the rack?
In a waterproof IP66 bag with welded seams. SATELLITE 1721 has fastenings for the rack, BIG ROLL 1712 closes with a roll-top, and on the way back it is better to keep wet clothing in a MUDBAG bag.
Do I need goggles if I ride slowly in the forest?
It is worth it. Mud, sand and insects fly into your face from the front wheels and branches even at low speed. Both models, VISION 1093 and SKYLINE 1094, attach with an elastic strap and work with a helmet.
Is the ATV collection clothing also suitable for fishing?
Yes, these are the same Finntrail products. The waders, wading jackets and boots are made for wading too, so once you have ridden your quad to the river you can step straight into the water without changing.
