Which softshell trousers should you choose?
Finntrail softshell trousers are made from a stretch fabric that does not restrict movement and repels wind, dust and light drizzle. The range includes trousers for hiking with a backpack, light trousers for dusty off-road trails, ATV and motocross trousers with knee pads, and warmer ones with fleece. Softshell will not keep out a long downpour, so for most people these are trousers for dry, cool weather.

How to choose
Softshell trousers differ from one another more by purpose than by waterproof rating. First decide whether you will walk or ride, and whether the weather will be warm or cool.

- •A long downpour. Softshell is not waterproof; for a whole day in the rain choose rain trousers with a membrane.
- •Winter without a warm layer underneath. Only NITRO 4603 has fleece; for the cold there are warm trousers.
- •Wading or kneeling for long on wet ground. The water repellent coating holds off splashes, but not constant water pressure.
Frequently asked questions
Are ENDURO 4610 trousers suitable for a rainy day on an ATV?
For a short shower and mud splashes, yes: ENDURO 4610 trousers have a DWR coating and a 5,000 mm rating. They will not be enough for a whole day in the rain; then choose membrane rain trousers, such as EXPERT 4602.
Which softshell trousers should I choose for hiking with a backpack?
AZIMUTH 1300: the side seams are moved forward so they do not chafe under the hip belt, and RIPSTOP fabric at wear points makes them last longer. Five zipped pockets keep your things from falling out.
Which softshell trousers are the warmest?
NITRO 4603: they have fleece inside, and the 3-layer fabric with a membrane repels wind and drizzle. The descriptions of the other Finntrail softshell trousers do not mention a fleece lining.
What are the knee pads in ENDURO 4610 trousers for?
The foam pads protect your knees when they press against the sides of an ATV or motorbike while riding, and when you fall to the ground. The pads are removable, so you can also wear ENDURO 4610 trousers without them.
