Membrane apparel and footwear work as long as their surface is intact. A single tear or a leaking seam is enough for water to get in, while the membrane itself stays perfectly sound. In the „Repair products“ category you will find what you need to fix that damage yourself.
Repair adhesives stay flexible after they cure, so they do not crack where the fabric bends. That matters on waders at the knees, on jackets at the elbows and on rubber boots where the sole meets the upper. Clear products also suit visible areas, as they do not change the colour of the fabric.
The most common cases are a tear from a branch or wire, a puncture in a neoprene sock, a lifted strip of seam tape and small holes worn in by abrasion. In all of these it is enough to clean and dry the area, apply the product and let it cure.
To make a repair last longer, renew the water repellent finish afterwards with impregnation products, and wash the garment first with a detergent made for technical apparel.
