Which snow boots should you choose?
Finntrail snow boots are made for snowmobiling and ice fishing, when you spend long hours in the cold. All models have a removable inner boot or warm liner that is easy to dry separately. For snowmobiling choose the membrane TOURING 5230 or BLIZZARD 5226, for quick fastening BLIZZARD ATOP 5234, and for ice fishing NORDY 5237 with its waterproof rubber overshoe.

- •Ice fishing, when you stand or sit in one spot for long: the lower part of NORDY 5237 is a waterproof rubber overshoe.

- •Trips of several days: you take out the inner boot or liner and dry it separately, so in the morning you put on dry boots.
How to choose
All models keep you warm; they differ in construction and fastening. The manufacturer rates the membrane models down to −75 °C and NORDY 5237 down to −30 °C, while real warmth also depends on movement and your socks.

- •A cool autumn and long walks on trails. Snow boots are designed for hard frost, so on such days insulated hiking boots are more comfortable.
- •Wading. NORDY 5237 is waterproof only in the overshoe part, and the shaft has a water repellent coating. For water there are wading boots with waders.
- •Wet mud after a thaw. Rubber boots, which are easy to hose down, suit that better.
Frequently asked questions
What does “down to −75 °C” mean?
It is the temperature limit the manufacturer gives for the membrane TOURING, BLIZZARD and BLIZZARD ATOP boots. How warm you actually feel also depends on movement, your socks and how long you stand still.
What is a removable inner boot for?
You take out the inner boot and dry it separately, so the next morning you put on a dry, warm boot. That matters on trips of several days, when sweat dampens the insulation during the day.
Are snow boots waterproof?
TOURING, BLIZZARD and BLIZZARD ATOP have a HARD-TEX membrane that keeps water out and blocks the wind. On NORDY 5237 the overshoe part is waterproof, and the shaft is protected by a water repellent coating.
What size should I choose for snow boots?
Go by the size guide and leave room for a thick sock, because your foot gets cold faster in a boot that is too tight. If the size is wrong, you can exchange or return the boots within 30 days.
