Goggles

Which glasses or goggles should you choose for fishing and ATV riding?

Finntrail eyewear falls into two groups. Polarised glasses with UV400 protection cut the glare off the water, so when fishing you see what is happening below the surface. Off-road goggles with an elastic strap protect your eyes from dust, mud and wind on an ATV and work with a helmet. Anglers should choose polarised glasses, riders goggles with a strap.

How to choose, who it is not for, and FAQ

    Who it is for

    • •Anglers by the water: polarised lenses cut the sun’s glare off the surface, so your eyes tire more slowly.
    • •Ice fishing in winter: SEAGULL 1091 also cuts glare off snow and ice.
    • •ATV and off-road riders on muddy and sandy trails, with or without a helmet.

    How to choose

First decide what you are protecting your eyes from: glare on the water, or dust and mud on the trail. The second question is light: a clear lens for dull weather, a tinted one for bright sun.

What this eyewear is not for

    • •Evening and dusk with a tinted or polarised lens. Then choose the clear lens of VISION 1093 or SKYLINE 1094.
    • •A muddy and sandy trail without a strap. Polarised glasses sit like ordinary glasses, while on the trail goggles with an elastic strap stay in place more reliably.
    • •Vision correction. There are no prescription lenses in the Finntrail range.

    Frequently asked questions

How do polarised glasses help an angler?

They cut the glare off the water surface, so you see what is happening below the surface rather than flashes of sunlight. Your eyes tire more slowly, especially over a long day on the water.

What does UV400 mean on glasses?

UV400 means the lens blocks ultraviolet rays up to a wavelength of 400 nanometres. In the Finntrail range UV400 is stated for the polarised PURSUIT 1090, SEAGULL 1091 and OFFSHORE 1092 glasses.

Can off-road goggles be worn with a helmet?

Yes. VISION 1093 and SKYLINE 1094 are held by an elastic strap that you adjust to your head or helmet, so the goggles do not slip even on hard off-road riding through potholes, mud and sand.

    Do the lenses fog up?

Two features reduce fogging: the VISION 1093 and SKYLINE 1094 lenses have anti-fog properties, and the OFFSHORE 1092 frame has vents. No such features are stated in the descriptions of the other models.
