Which rubber boots should you choose?

Finntrail rubber boots keep water out and have no drainage, so they suit mud, wet grass, hunting and outdoor work. The range includes the short, uninsulated DECK, the tall OUTLANDER with neoprene and the insulated EDGE for winter. For the cold, wet season OUTLANDER 7516 with 5 mm neoprene suits most people.

How to choose, who they are not for, and FAQ

    Who they are for

    • •Mud, wet grass and outdoor work, when you just want to hose your boots down after work.
    • •ATV riding and hunting, when you do not wear waders but there will be plenty of water and mud.
    • •Fishing from the bank on a rainy or cold day.
    • •Everyday outings: you slip on the short DECK 7518 quickly, helped by two heel loops.

    How to choose

All rubber boots keep water out, so choose by warmth and shaft height.

What rubber boots are not for

    • •Wearing over the neoprene socks of waders. Rubber boots are not designed for it and do not keep sand or mud from getting inside, so choose wading boots.
    • •Long walks and hikes. Rubber does not breathe, so your feet sweat on a long walk; hiking boots with a membrane suit that better.
    • •Wading deeper than the shaft: water that runs in over the top stays in the boot.
    • •Hard frost and snowmobiling. That is what snow boots with a removable inner boot are for.

    Frequently asked questions

Do rubber boots keep you warm in winter?

Only the insulated models do: the manufacturer rates EDGE 7520 from −10 to −20 °C, and OUTLANDER with neoprene suits the cold, wet season. The uninsulated DECK 7518 gets its warmth only from your sock.

Why do my feet sweat in rubber boots?

Rubber does not let moisture through in either direction, so sweat stays inside. OUTLANDER 7516 has a lining that reduces condensation, and if you are outdoors for long it pays to wear a wool or thermal sock.

Are rubber boots suitable for ATV riding?

Yes, if the fords are shallow: a rubber boot keeps water out and rinses clean easily after mud. Where water comes up higher than the shaft, choose stockingfoot waders with neoprene socks and wading boots.

What size should I choose for rubber boots?

Go by your usual size and check the size guide. In winter leave room for a thicker sock, and if the size is wrong you can return or exchange the boots within 30 days.

How do I care for rubber boots?

Rinse off the mud with clean water and let them dry naturally, not by a radiator or in the sun, because heat damages rubber and neoprene. Dry the inside with the shaft open, and do not leave the shaft folded for long.
