Which waders suit riding a quad through fords?
Waders for quad riders let you cross fords and mud holes without getting off wet: the membrane keeps water out from the outside and lets sweat escape during hours in the saddle. Most quad riders are best served by waders with reinforced knees and seat, such as ENDURO 1539 or AQUAMASTER 1536. If you do not want to match boots, choose ENDURO BF 5281 with integrated rubber boots.

Who they are for
- •Fords, when the water rises above the footrests and you have to get off to push or pull out a stuck machine.
- •A long day in the saddle: the knees and seat take the most wear, so ENDURO 1539, ENDURO BF 5281 and AQUAMASTER 1536 have Cordura reinforcements.
- •When the quad takes you to the river: once there you can wade in and fish straight away, because these are the same waders anglers fish in.
- •Women riders: RACHEL waders come in two designs, stockingfoot (1520) and bootfoot (BF 5300), both with a women’s cut.
How to choose
For quad riding, three things matter most: whether the wear areas are reinforced, whether the boots are integrated, and whether they are easy to take off when you stop. TIMBER 1538 withstands a 17,000 mm water column, while ENDURO 1539, AQUAMASTER 1536 and SPEEDMASTER 1540 withstand as much as 25,000 mm.

- •Riding in cold rain without a top layer. Waders reach the chest, so over them you need a wading jacket.
- •Long walks on foot from the quad to a hunting stand. In waders and wading boots a few kilometres feel much harder than in hiking boots.
- •Falls. The knee pads and Cordura protect the fabric from wear, but they are not protective equipment.
- •Hot summer days on dry tracks. Without fords, waders are too warm; rain trousers are more comfortable then.

Will waders tear on the quad seat?
The seat and knees are the areas of greatest wear, so for quad riding choose a model with reinforcements: ENDURO 1539 and AQUAMASTER 1536 have Cordura, ENDURO BF 5281 has Cordura in the wear areas, and SPEEDMASTER 1540 has shaped neoprene knee pads.
How do I stay dry when riding through a deep ford?
Tighten the top of the waders with the braces, put a wading jacket over them, and pull the elastic gravel guards down over your wading boots so water and mud cannot get in. Do not ride or wade deeper than the top of your waders.
Can I sit on a quad in waders all day?
Yes, the membrane lets sweat escape, so moisture does not build up inside as it does in rubber waders. The membrane itself does not warm you, so wear thermal underwear under your waders, and fleece trousers too on a cool day.
How do I dry waders after a muddy trip?
First rinse off the mud with water, especially from the socks and seams, then hang them inside out so the inside dries too. Many models have a D-ring or loops for hanging, and you can bring them home in a MUDBAG bag.
What size waders should I take for quad riding?
A size in which you feel no tension at the crotch and seat when you sit down and bend your knees. Sitting stretches the fabric more than standing, so if in doubt take the larger size and check our size guide.
