Which wading jacket should you choose?
Finntrail wading jackets are worn with waders when you fish standing in a river or lake. All of them have a HARD-TEX membrane and DWR coating, and they differ in waterproof rating (from 17,000 to 20,000 mm), breathability and details. For a long day in the water and active movement it pays to choose a 20,000 mm and 10,000 g/m²/24h model, such as WADEMAN 1327 or PROGUIDE 4031.

How to choose
First look at two numbers: waterproof rating and breathability. 17,000 mm and 7,000 g/m²/24h are enough for a normal day of fishing, while 20,000 mm and 10,000 g/m²/24h give more margin when you stand in water for long and move a lot.

- •Submersion. The jacket protects from rain and spray, but the sleeves and hem are not sealed underwater: do not go deeper than the top of your waders in it.
- •Replacing waders. The jacket only covers your top half; your legs need waders.
- •Ice fishing in winter. A wading jacket has no insulation; for the cold choose a warm jacket.

What is the difference between SPEEDMASTER 4026 and SPEEDMASTER 4029?
Both have a 4-layer HARD-TEX membrane and a 20,000 mm rating, but SPEEDMASTER 4029 breathes better: 10,000 g/m²/24h against 7,000. SPEEDMASTER 4026 has neoprene cuffs, a detachable hood and two inside pockets.
Is 17,000 mm enough for a wading jacket?
For a normal day of fishing, yes: 17,000 mm withstands rain and spray. It is worth choosing 20,000 mm if you stand in water for long, often fish in the rain or backpack straps rub the jacket.
Is there a women’s wading jacket?
Yes, RACHEL 6455 is designed for women: an anatomical cut with adjustments, a 5-layer HARD-TEX membrane and a 17,000 mm waterproof rating. It comes in Petrol, Graphite and LightBlue.
Do the pockets of a wading jacket stay dry?
Most models have waterproof pockets or water resistant zips, for example MUDWAY, COASTER and PROGUIDE. When you wade deep, still keep your phone in a waterproof pouch.
Do I need a warm layer under a wading jacket?
In autumn and spring usually yes, because a wading jacket has no insulation. Wear a thermal layer and a mid layer underneath, and in cold water or on a windy day choose a thicker mid layer.
