Which UV T-shirt should you choose?
Finntrail UV T-shirts are light long-sleeved tops that cover your arms and back from the sun while fishing or hiking. Five models use UPF 50 fabric, some with a hood or a built-in face mask. VENUS HOOD 6621 and BREEZE 1212 protect only by physically covering the skin. The WAVE line with UPF 50 suits most people.
How to choose, who they are not for, and FAQ
Who they are for
- •Anglers who spend all day by the water and do not want to reapply sunscreen every couple of hours.
- •By the water where mosquitoes swarm: VIZARD 6608 has a built-in face mask and mosquito repellent technology.
- •Sport and active pursuits on a hot day when a cap gets in the way: the WAVE BIG LOGO 6614 hood protects the back of your neck.
- •Everyday wear and travel: VENUS HOOD 6621 and BREEZE 1212 are soft, light layers without a declared UPF.
How to choose
The first question: do you need to cover your neck and face? The second: does a declared UPF 50 matter to you, or is it enough that the fabric covers your skin?
Type Best for Models With a built-in hood, UPF 50 When the sun bakes the back of your neck and a cap gets in the way or will not stay on. The hood protects your neck. WAVE BIG LOGO 6614 With a built-in face mask, UPF 50 When the sun or mosquitoes are too much: the mask with silicone inserts pulls up over your face. VIZARD 6608 Long sleeves, UPF 50 Everyday summer fishing and sport. WAVE BIG FISH 6609 has raglan sleeves and a straight cut. WAVE LOGO 6613, WAVE FISH 6611, WAVE BIG FISH 6609 Physical cover, no UPF stated Everyday wear, travel and a cooler summer evening. VENUS HOOD 6621 has a hood. VENUS HOOD 6621, BREEZE 1212 What UV T-shirts are not for
- •Rain. These T-shirts are not waterproof; for rain you need a rain jacket.
- •Cold weather. This is a summer layer and does not keep you warm.
- •When you need confirmed UV protection. No UPF value is given for VENUS HOOD 6621 and BREEZE 1212; in that case choose a WAVE or VIZARD model.
- •Your face, if the T-shirt has no mask. UV neck protection will cover your face and neck.
Frequently asked questions
Hood or built-in mask: what is the difference?
A hood protects your neck and the back of your neck, while a built-in mask also covers your face. Choose WAVE BIG LOGO 6614 when the back of your neck bakes, and VIZARD 6608 when the sun or mosquitoes go straight for your face.
Do all T-shirts in this category have UPF 50?
No. UPF 50 is stated for the WAVE and VIZARD models. VENUS HOOD 6621 and BREEZE 1212 protect by physical cover: the long sleeves and hood cover your skin, but no UPF value is given.
Does the fabric stick to your body when you sweat?
WAVE and VIZARD fabric breathes, wicks sweat and dries quickly, so you stay dry on a hot day. Flat seams reduce friction, so the T-shirts do not chafe even when you move for long.
What size UV T-shirt should I take?
Choose your usual size and check it in the Finntrail size guide. WAVE BIG FISH 6609 has a classic straight cut. If the size is wrong, you can exchange or return the T-shirt within 30 days.
