Finntrail EXCALIBUR DarkGrey 4616 Rain Bib
A rugged membrane rain bib with braces that keeps you dry by the water and on the mud trail. A 4-layer HARD-TEX® membrane with a DWR finish, fully taped seams, reinforced zones and reflective elements: 20,000 mm protection from rain, wind and moisture that still breathes and lets you move.
Who it is for
Made for the angler, ATV/UTV rider and off-road enthusiast who wants reliable, rugged protection from rain and mud in demanding weather.
- •Fishing by the water, when you need maximum cover from rain and splashes.
- •ATV, UTV and motorcycle riders on off-road and mud trails.
- •Outdoor and active use when the weather is harsh and the work is dirty.
When it shines
It performs best in prolonged rain, by the water and on the mud trail, where a cheap raincoat soaks through, tears or leaves you sweaty inside. The high chest and back panel with braces protects your waist and lower back when you bend or sit on a quad.
Technical specs
Materials & technology
HARD-TEX® 4-layer membrane
A microporous membrane with billions of pores smaller than a raindrop and larger than a vapour molecule: it stops water from outside yet lets sweat vapour escape, so you don’t overheat. The 4-layer build delivers a 20,000 mm water resistance.
DWR finish
A thin water-repellent finish on the outer layer: rain beads and rolls off, the fabric wets out less and dries faster.
Fully taped seams
Taped strips seal every needle hole so water cannot get in through the seams, even in prolonged rain.
Reinforced zones
Extra reinforcement in the highest-wear areas: the garment survives off-road, sitting on a quad and wading, and lasts longer.
Reflective elements
Reflect light back toward its source for better visibility at dusk and in the dark.
How it differs from a cheaper option
Care
Wash up to 30 °C with a dedicated membrane wash (e.g. Mountval Wash & Care), without softener or bleach. Restore the water repellency (DWR) with Mountval Waterproofing Refresher. Dry naturally, not on a radiator. Repair minor membrane damage with a dedicated adhesive (Aquaseal / Aquasure) on a clean, dry surface.
Frequently asked questions
Does this bib breathe, or will I sweat?
It breathes: breathability is 10,000 g/m²/24h. The HARD-TEX® membrane lets sweat vapour out while keeping rain off from outside, so you stay dry inside even when active.
Is it good for both fishing and riding a quad?
Yes. It is a versatile, rugged rain bib for fishing by the water, ATV/UTV riding, off-road and mud trails, where rain protection and abrasion resistance matter most.
What is the waterproof rating?
The membrane is 4-layer HARD-TEX®, water resistance 20,000 mm, breathability 10,000 g/m²/24h, seams fully taped, surface treated with a DWR finish.
Why is a bib better than regular rain pants?
The high chest and back panel with braces protects your waist and lower back when you bend or sit on a quad. Water and mud can’t reach your lower back, while the braces and adjustable waist keep the garment in place.
How do I care for a membrane bib?
Wash up to 30 °C with Mountval Wash & Care, then restore water repellency with Mountval Waterproofing Refresher and dry naturally. Proper care keeps the waterproofness and breathability.

How to Choose the Correct FINNTRAIL Men's Pants Size
Choosing the correct pants size ensures comfort, freedom of movement and optimal performance during outdoor activities. Pants that are too small may feel tight around the waist or hips and restrict movement, while pants that are too large may slide down, interfere with walking and reduce overall comfort.
The FINNTRAIL size chart shows body measurements, not garment measurements. FINNTRAIL pants are designed with additional room for mobility, comfort and layering when needed.
Measure Your Height
Height is one of the key measurements when choosing men's pants, as it helps determine overall fit and leg length. Measure your height while standing upright without shoes.
How to measure: stand straight with your feet together and measure from the floor to the top of your head.Measure Your Waist
Measure your waist at its narrowest point or where you normally wear your pants. The measuring tape should fit comfortably around your body without being too tight.
Important: do not suck in your stomach or tighten the tape excessively. Pants should allow comfortable movement, sitting and layering.Measure Your Hips
Measure around the fullest part of your hips. This measurement is particularly important because pants should allow unrestricted movement while walking, climbing, sitting or engaging in outdoor activities.
Recommendation: if your hip measurement falls into a larger size than your waist measurement, choose the size according to your hips.Measure Your Inseam
Inseam is measured from the crotch down to the inside of the ankle. This measurement helps determine whether the pants will provide the proper leg length for your height.
If you plan to wear taller boots or use the pants for active outdoor activities, ensuring the correct inseam length is especially important.
How to Use the Size Chart
Measurement Description Height Body height in centimeters. Waist Waist circumference. Hips Hip circumference measured around the fullest part of the hips. Inseam Inside leg length from crotch to ankle. Start by checking your waist and hip measurements. Then confirm that the selected size matches your height and inseam. If one measurement falls into a larger size category, it is generally recommended to choose the larger size.

S M L XLStandard sizes for men with average body proportions.
MLExtended length size for taller users whose waist and hip measurements correspond to size M.
SK MK LK XLKWider sizes designed for larger waist and hip measurements.
XXL XXXLLarger sizes for taller or broader body types.
If You Are Between Two Sizes
If your measurements fall between two sizes, choose according to how the pants will be used. For active outdoor use, the fabric should never feel tight across the waist, hips or knees.
- If your hips fall into a larger size category than your waist, choose according to your hip measurement.
- If you plan to wear thermal layers underneath, allow extra room.
- If you are taller than average, pay special attention to inseam length.
- For active use, avoid choosing pants that fit too tightly.
Important: technical pants should not be overly tight. Fabric under constant tension wears faster, restricts movement and reduces overall comfort.Recommendation Before Ordering
Before ordering FINNTRAIL men's pants, measure your height, waist, hips and inseam accurately. Take measurements while wearing a thin base layer or clothing similar to what you plan to wear underneath the pants.
Best results: provide your height, waist circumference, hip circumference and inseam measurement. These measurements allow the most accurate FINNTRAIL size recommendation.Summary
To choose the correct FINNTRAIL men's pants size, the most important measurements are height, waist circumference, hip circumference and inseam length. The correct size ensures comfort, freedom of movement, effective layering and long-lasting performance.

Membrane waterproofing and breathability
Membrane fabric is usually described using two numbers, often separated by a slash: waterproofness and breathability. The first number indicates waterproofness, the second indicates breathability.
?Waterproofing
This is a sliding scale measured in mm that shows how high a column of water you can suspend over the membrane before it starts to let moisture through.
Waterproof Rating Conditions 0–10,000 mm Light rain, dry snow, light pressure. 11,000–15,000 mm Moderate rain, average snow, light pressure. 16,000–20,000 mm Heavy rain, wet snow, some pressure. 20,000 mm+ Heavy rain, wet snow, high pressure. ?Breathability
This is the amount of moisture by weight that can pass through one square metre of fabric over a period of 24 hours. It is commonly measured in g/m²/24 hrs.
Breathability Rating Level of Breathability 0–5,000 g/m²/24 hrs Low – light exercise. 5,000–15,000 g/m²/24 hrs Medium – medium to high energy activity. 15,000 g/m²/24 hrs+ High – vigorous sustained activity.
