Which suit should you choose for snowmobile riding?
Finntrail snow suits in this collection are one-piece overalls, two-piece suits, separate jackets and bib trousers that keep out the headwind and snow. For active riding in deep snow the one-piece WIDETRACK 3852 or BLIZZARD 3856 suits most riders, while the two-piece POWERMAN 3752 is more comfortable for long trips with stops.

Who they are for
- •Riding in deep snow, when you fall, get up and dig: BLIZZARD 3856 has fully taped seams, and the knees, seat, inside leg seams and cuffs are reinforced.
- •Trips with long stops: in a two-piece suit you take off only the jacket when you warm up, while the bib trousers with braces keep covering your back.
- •Riding in a group and after dark: POWERMAN 3752 Graphite has D rings for the safety lanyard, a radio loop and 3M reflectors.
- •For women: the ATLAS W 3460 suit with a HARD-TEX membrane and a snow skirt, rated by the maker down to −20 °C.
How to choose
The first question is the design: one-piece or two-piece. The second is how much warmth the suit itself should give and how much to leave to the layers underneath.

- •Impact protection. The foam knee inserts and reinforcements are there for comfort and wear; choose your helmet and body armour separately.
- •Thaws and spring glare ice. In an insulated suit you will quickly sweat above zero; BACKCOUNTRY 3903 with a thinner layer underneath suits that better.
- •Riding without a thermal layer. The suit keeps out the wind, but it does not move sweat away from your skin on its own; you need thermal underwear under it.
Frequently asked questions
What are the D rings on a snow suit for?
You clip the snowmobile safety lanyard to the D ring, so it is attached to your clothing rather than hanging loose. The POWERMAN 3752 Graphite suit and the POWERMAN 3760 jacket have D rings for the safety lanyard.
What is the difference between POWERMAN 3752 Graphite and Red?
Graphite has a 17,000 mm membrane with fully taped seams, a detachable seat, D rings for the safety lanyard, a radio loop and KEVLAR reinforcements at the hems. Red has a 12,000 mm membrane, a snow skirt and D rings for tools.
Which suit builds up the least sweat when riding in deep snow?
BACKCOUNTRY 3903: it is uninsulated, the membrane breathes 10,000 g/m²/24h, and there is ventilation at the armpits, the collar and the inside leg seam. You add warmth with thermal and fleece layers, so you do not overheat while digging.
What size suit should I take if I will wear several layers under it?
One in which, with thermal and fleece layers on, you can stand up freely on the footboards and turn your torso. WIDETRACK 3852 is cut wider precisely for layers underneath. Measurements are in the size guide.
Can the hood be worn over a helmet?
Yes, the hoods of the POWERMAN 3760 and SNOWRANGER 3758 jackets are adjustable and made to fit a helmet. The descriptions of the other models do not mention wearing the hood over a helmet, and the ESCAPE 3756 collar with microfleece is made to be worn under a helmet.
