Finntrail ATLAS BIB Graphite 4617 Insulated Bib Pants
Insulated membrane bib pants with braces for winter sports and long hours outdoors in snow, wind and frost. The Finntrail ATLAS BIB 4617 is made from a two-layer fabric with a HARD-TEX membrane and a water-repellent DWR finish, and every seam is taped. Thermalrate insulation holds the heat and stays comfortable on the move down to −20 °C (−4 °F). The high front and back, lined with microfleece, cover the waist where ordinary trousers leave a gap. It is a bib, not a full suit, so you wear a jacket on top.
Who it is for
Made for anyone who keeps moving outdoors in winter and does not want snow or wind to cut the day short: snowmobile riders, ice anglers, skiers and people working in the yard or the forest.
- •Snowmobiling and winter ATV riding, with long hours seated and kneeling.
- •Ice fishing, when you walk, drill holes and change spots.
- •Winter sports and outdoor work that need warmth and free movement together.
When it shines, and what it does not promise
It works best in real winter, in snow and wind, while you stay active: riding, walking, working. Then the Thermalrate insulation and the membrane keep you comfortable down to −20 °C. Standing still for hours, for example sitting by an ice hole, your body produces less heat, so wear thermal base layers and a warm mid layer underneath. If you need more margin for deep frost, look at the SNOWRANGER 4619.
Technical specs
Materials & technology
Two-layer fabric with HARD-TEX membrane
The membrane keeps snow, sleet and wind out while letting moisture escape from inside. Taped seams seal the needle holes where an ordinary garment lets water in first.
DWR finish
A water-repellent finish on the outer fabric: snow and drops roll off, the surface wets out less and dries faster. It is not a membrane but a helper, so it needs renewing with a proofer over time.
Thermalrate insulation and microfleece
Synthetic Thermalrate insulation holds body heat, while microfleece lining at the chest, back and side pockets adds warmth where you feel the cold first.
Reinforcements and 3D knees
Ultra-durable panels at the seat and lower legs stand up to friction from the seat, ice and boot edges. Articulated 3D knees and an ergonomic cut let you kneel, climb and sit without the fabric pulling.

Care
Wash on a gentle cycle with a membrane wash (Mountval Wash & Care), without softener or bleach: regular detergent clogs the membrane. Check the temperature on the sewn-in care label. Close all zippers and hook-and-loop tabs before washing. When water stops beading on the surface, restore the DWR finish with a proofer (Mountval Textile Shield). Dry naturally, not on a radiator, so the insulation keeps its loft.
Frequently asked questions
What temperature is the Finntrail ATLAS BIB 4617 for?
On the move, the Finntrail ATLAS BIB 4617 keeps you comfortable down to −20 °C (−4 °F). If you stand or sit still for long, for example ice fishing, your body makes less heat, so add thermal base layers and a warm mid layer underneath.
Is it a full suit with sleeves?
No. It is a bib with braces: it covers your legs, waist, chest and back, and you wear a jacket on top. The natural match is the ATLAS 3441 snow jacket from the same line.
Is the bib waterproof?
A HARD-TEX membrane in the two-layer fabric and a DWR finish protect against snow, sleet and rain, and every seam is taped. The pocket zippers are water-resistant. We do not have a confirmed hydrostatic head figure for this model, so we do not quote one.
How do I get it on over winter boots?
The side zippers open wide, so you can pull the ATLAS BIB 4617 on and off without taking your boots off. Inner snow gaiters fit over the boots, a lace hook clips to the laces and hook-and-loop tabs cinch the leg openings.
Will it get too hot when riding or walking?
There are ventilation zippers along the inseam. Open them when you heat up to dump warm air, and close them again when you stop. The membrane also lets moisture escape from inside.
Which size should I choose?
Available in XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL and XXXL. Choose a size that leaves room for a base layer and a mid layer. Fine-tune the waist with the side tabs and the height with the adjustable braces. Not sure? Send us your height and weight and we will help.

How to Choose the Correct FINNTRAIL Men's Pants Size
Choosing the correct pants size ensures comfort, freedom of movement and optimal performance during outdoor activities. Pants that are too small may feel tight around the waist or hips and restrict movement, while pants that are too large may slide down, interfere with walking and reduce overall comfort.
The FINNTRAIL size chart shows body measurements, not garment measurements. FINNTRAIL pants are designed with additional room for mobility, comfort and layering when needed.
Measure Your Height
Height is one of the key measurements when choosing men's pants, as it helps determine overall fit and leg length. Measure your height while standing upright without shoes.
How to measure: stand straight with your feet together and measure from the floor to the top of your head.Measure Your Waist
Measure your waist at its narrowest point or where you normally wear your pants. The measuring tape should fit comfortably around your body without being too tight.
Important: do not suck in your stomach or tighten the tape excessively. Pants should allow comfortable movement, sitting and layering.Measure Your Hips
Measure around the fullest part of your hips. This measurement is particularly important because pants should allow unrestricted movement while walking, climbing, sitting or engaging in outdoor activities.
Recommendation: if your hip measurement falls into a larger size than your waist measurement, choose the size according to your hips.Measure Your Inseam
Inseam is measured from the crotch down to the inside of the ankle. This measurement helps determine whether the pants will provide the proper leg length for your height.
If you plan to wear taller boots or use the pants for active outdoor activities, ensuring the correct inseam length is especially important.
How to Use the Size Chart
Measurement Description Height Body height in centimeters. Waist Waist circumference. Hips Hip circumference measured around the fullest part of the hips. Inseam Inside leg length from crotch to ankle. Start by checking your waist and hip measurements. Then confirm that the selected size matches your height and inseam. If one measurement falls into a larger size category, it is generally recommended to choose the larger size.

S M L XLStandard sizes for men with average body proportions.
MLExtended length size for taller users whose waist and hip measurements correspond to size M.
SK MK LK XLKWider sizes designed for larger waist and hip measurements.
XXL XXXLLarger sizes for taller or broader body types.
If You Are Between Two Sizes
If your measurements fall between two sizes, choose according to how the pants will be used. For active outdoor use, the fabric should never feel tight across the waist, hips or knees.
- If your hips fall into a larger size category than your waist, choose according to your hip measurement.
- If you plan to wear thermal layers underneath, allow extra room.
- If you are taller than average, pay special attention to inseam length.
- For active use, avoid choosing pants that fit too tightly.
Important: technical pants should not be overly tight. Fabric under constant tension wears faster, restricts movement and reduces overall comfort.Recommendation Before Ordering
Before ordering FINNTRAIL men's pants, measure your height, waist, hips and inseam accurately. Take measurements while wearing a thin base layer or clothing similar to what you plan to wear underneath the pants.
Best results: provide your height, waist circumference, hip circumference and inseam measurement. These measurements allow the most accurate FINNTRAIL size recommendation.Summary
To choose the correct FINNTRAIL men's pants size, the most important measurements are height, waist circumference, hip circumference and inseam length. The correct size ensures comfort, freedom of movement, effective layering and long-lasting performance.

Membrane waterproofing and breathability
Membrane fabric is usually described using two numbers, often separated by a slash: waterproofness and breathability. The first number indicates waterproofness, the second indicates breathability.
?Waterproofing
This is a sliding scale measured in mm that shows how high a column of water you can suspend over the membrane before it starts to let moisture through.
Waterproof Rating Conditions 0–10,000 mm Light rain, dry snow, light pressure. 11,000–15,000 mm Moderate rain, average snow, light pressure. 16,000–20,000 mm Heavy rain, wet snow, some pressure. 20,000 mm+ Heavy rain, wet snow, high pressure. ?Breathability
This is the amount of moisture by weight that can pass through one square metre of fabric over a period of 24 hours. It is commonly measured in g/m²/24 hrs.
Breathability Rating Level of Breathability 0–5,000 g/m²/24 hrs Low – light exercise. 5,000–15,000 g/m²/24 hrs Medium – medium to high energy activity. 15,000 g/m²/24 hrs+ High – vigorous sustained activity.
