A warm, waterproof one-piece winter suit with Thinsulate™ insulation down to −30 °C, built for snowmobiling and winter fishing. A HARD-TEX® membrane keeps out water and wind and breathes, Thinsulate™ insulation with a microfleece back lining holds the heat down to −30 °C, and the roomy cut leaves space for warm layers underneath.
Who it is for
Made for long spells in the cold on snow and ice, when you need a dependably warm, waterproof and rugged suit for active winter use.
- •For snowmobiling on winter trails.
- •For winter fishing and long hours on the ice.

When it shines
Best in deep winter cold on snow and ice: when you spend long hours outdoors and your body has to stay warm and dry. The roomy “widetrack” cut leaves room for warm layers underneath.
Technical specs
Materials & technology
HARD-TEX® membrane
A breathable 2.5-layer membrane (water column 12,000 mm, breathability 8,000 g/m² per 24 h) keeps out water and wind, while sealed seams and the DWR finish keep the suit dry.
Thinsulate™ insulation
Warm Thinsulate™ insulation and an added microfleece back lining hold your body heat down to −30 °C, so you stay warm even when sitting or standing in one spot for a long time.
Roomy “widetrack” cut and ventilation
The roomy cut leaves space for warm layers underneath, the ventilation system helps release excess heat during active movement, and the internal Lycra cuffs with a thumb hole plus the high collar with a microfleece lining keep snow and cold out.
Reinforcements and snow protection
An extra sturdy layer at the knees, seat and the inner and lower leg resists wear, the removable adjustable hood and internal snow gaiters keep snow out, and the pockets (2 side, 2 chest, sleeve, inner and mesh) with a headphone loop keep everything at hand.
How it differs from an ordinary winter suit
Care
Wash up to 30 °C with a dedicated membrane wash (Mountval Wash & Care), without softener or bleach: ordinary detergent clogs the membrane. When water stops beading, restore the water repellency (DWR) with an impregnator (Mountval Textile Shield). Dry naturally, not on a radiator or in the sun. Out of season store it dry and on a hanger, not compressed.
Frequently asked questions
What kind of suit is this?
It is a one-piece winter suit with height-adjustable braces, a HARD-TEX® membrane and Thinsulate™ insulation. The top and trousers are joined, so there is no gap at the waist or back for snow or cold to get in.
What temperatures does it handle?
The maker rates the Thinsulate™-insulated suit for cold down to −30 °C. In real use, a lot depends on your base layers, movement and whether you stand still for a long time.
Is it waterproof?
Yes. The HARD-TEX® membrane (2.5-layer, water column 12,000 mm) keeps out water and wind, the seams are sealed, and the DWR finish repels moisture from the surface. The zip is two-way and water-resistant.
How does it keep snow out?
Internal snow gaiters keep snow away from your boots, the high collar with a microfleece lining protects your neck, and the internal Lycra cuffs with a thumb hole stop snow creeping up the sleeves.
How do I wash it and refresh the DWR finish?
Wash up to 30 °C with a dedicated membrane wash (Mountval Wash & Care), without softener, and restore the water repellency with an impregnator (Mountval Textile Shield). Dry naturally, away from radiators: proper care keeps both the waterproofing and the breathability.

How to Choose the Correct FINNTRAIL Men’s Snowmobile Gear Size
Choosing the correct snowmobile gear size is important for comfort, freedom of movement, heat retention, and protection against snow, wind, and moisture. Gear that is too small may restrict movement and feel tight when worn with base and insulation layers, while gear that is too large may reduce heat retention and make active movement less comfortable.
The FINNTRAIL snowmobile gear size chart shows body measurements, not garment measurements. The gear is designed with extra room for comfort, movement, and proper layering in cold weather.
Measure Your Chest
Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the measuring tape horizontal. Stand straight and keep the tape close to the body, but not tight.
How to measure: measure around the widest part of your chest while breathing normally and keeping your body relaxed.Measure Your Waist
Measure around the narrowest part of your waist or where you naturally wear your pants. This measurement is especially important for pants and bibs, so the gear does not restrict movement while sitting, bending, or riding actively.
Important: do not pull in your stomach or tighten the measuring tape too much. Snowmobile gear should leave enough room for base and insulation layers.Measure Your Hips and Largest Girth
Measure your hips around the widest part. Also check your largest body girth — this may be the chest, stomach, or hips, depending on body shape.
Main rule: if one measurement falls into a larger size, choose the size according to your largest body girth. This helps prevent tightness and restricted movement.Measure Your Inseam and Arm Length
Inseam is measured from the crotch to the inside of the ankle. Arm length helps determine whether the jacket sleeves will properly cover your arms during movement and when wearing gloves.
These measurements are especially important for taller users or people with non-standard proportions. If your girths match one size but your height or limb length matches another, consider longer or wider size options.
How to Use the Size Chart
Measurement Description Height Body height in centimeters. Chest Chest circumference measured around the fullest part of the chest. Waist Waist circumference. Hips Hip circumference measured around the widest part of the hips. Largest Girth The largest body circumference — chest, stomach, or hips. Inseam Inside leg length from crotch to ankle. Arm Length Sleeve / arm length. First, check your girth measurements: chest, waist, hips, and largest body girth. Then confirm whether the selected size also matches your height, inseam, and arm length.

S M L XLStandard sizes for men with average body proportions.

XSK SK MK LK XLKWider sizes for larger chest, waist, hips, or overall largest body girth.
XXL XXXLLarger sizes for taller users and broader body types.
If You Are Between Two Sizes
If your measurements fall between two sizes, consider how you will use the gear. For active movement and layering, it is usually better to choose a size that does not create tension in the fabric.
- If warmth and layering are the priority, choose the larger size.
- If you will use the gear actively, make sure it does not restrict knees, shoulders, or arms.
- If height matches one size but girths match another, prioritize the largest body girth.
- If you will wear a thicker insulation layer, leave additional space.
Important: snowmobile gear should not fit like everyday clothing. It must allow space for base layers, insulation, air gap, and unrestricted movement.Recommendation Before Ordering
Before ordering FINNTRAIL snowmobile gear, measure your main body parameters and compare them with the chart. Take measurements while wearing a thin base layer or clothing similar to what you will actually wear under the gear.
Best result: provide your height, chest, waist, hips, and largest body girth. If possible, also include inseam and arm length.Summary
To choose the correct FINNTRAIL men’s snowmobile gear size, the most important measurements are height, chest circumference, waist circumference, hips, largest body girth, inseam, and arm length. A correctly selected size ensures warmth, freedom of movement, comfortable layering, and effective protection in winter conditions.

Membrane waterproofing and breathability
Membrane fabric is usually described using two numbers, often separated by a slash: waterproofness and breathability. The first number indicates waterproofness, the second indicates breathability.
?Waterproofing
This is a sliding scale measured in mm that shows how high a column of water you can suspend over the membrane before it starts to let moisture through.
Waterproof Rating Conditions 0–10,000 mm Light rain, dry snow, light pressure. 11,000–15,000 mm Moderate rain, average snow, light pressure. 16,000–20,000 mm Heavy rain, wet snow, some pressure. 20,000 mm+ Heavy rain, wet snow, high pressure. ?Breathability
This is the amount of moisture by weight that can pass through one square metre of fabric over a period of 24 hours. It is commonly measured in g/m²/24 hrs.
Breathability Rating Level of Breathability 0–5,000 g/m²/24 hrs Low – light exercise. 5,000–15,000 g/m²/24 hrs Medium – medium to high energy activity. 15,000 g/m²/24 hrs+ High – vigorous sustained activity.
