Finntrail BACKCOUNTRY Blue 3903 Snow Suit

A top-tier one-piece snow suit with a Japanese TORAY DERMIZAX® membrane, integrated suspenders and a drop-seat, built for extreme and professional snowmobiling. The TORAY DERMIZAX® membrane offers high water resistance (20,000 mm) and excellent breathability (10,000 g/m²/24h), while Japanese YKK Aquaguard zippers and fully taped seams keep moisture out. This is an uninsulated shell for layering: you set the warmth yourself with base layers, so you never overheat even when riding hard.

    Who it is for

Made for extreme and professional riding in winter, when you need the best membrane, breathability and protection, and add warmth with base layers.

    • For extreme snowmobiling at a professional level.
    • For long, active routes, where breathability and ventilation matter.
    • For layering with a base and insulating layer, when you choose the warmth yourself.

    When it shines

It performs best when riding hard from +15 to −20 °C: the premium membrane and ventilation vent sweat so you don’t overheat, while the one-piece cut and taped seams keep snow and moisture out.

    Materials & technology

    TORAY DERMIZAX® premium membrane

A high-tech Japanese membrane for active sport: high water resistance (20,000 mm) and excellent breathability (10,000 g/m²/24h), protection from wind, moisture and condensation. A higher-grade solution than a standard membrane.

YKK Aquaguard zippers and taped seams

Japanese YKK Aquaguard zippers with a water-repellent surface and fully taped seams keep moisture out at the key points, so water and snow stay outside.

Ventilation and uninsulated shell for layering

Ventilation at the underarms, collar and inner seam with an inner mesh against snow vents sweat. The suit has no insulation: you set the warmth yourself with base layers (for example a Finntrail base layer), so you don’t overheat as you move.

    Cordura and 3D anatomical knees

Extra-tough Cordura reinforcements, 3D anatomical knees, inner seam and lower legs withstand heavy use, while the one-piece cut, snow gaiters and drop-seat keep snow out.

How it differs from an ordinary winter suit

    Ordinary winter suit

    • Soaks through and absorbs moisture
    • Snow gets in through the bottom and gaps
    • Doesn’t breathe, damp inside as you move
    • Weak zones wear out fast

    Finntrail BACKCOUNTRY Blue

    • Premium TORAY DERMIZAX® membrane (20,000 mm), breathes superbly
    • One-piece cut and snow gaiters, snow stays out
    • YKK Aquaguard zippers and ventilation
    • Cordura and 3D anatomical knees in high-wear areas

    Care

Wash cool, on a gentle cycle, without softener or bleach. Restore the water-repellent finish (DWR) with a dedicated proofer. Dry at low temperature, not on a radiator or by a fire: high heat damages the materials and the membrane. Store in a dry, ventilated place.

    Frequently asked questions

What kind of suit is this?

It is a top-tier one-piece snow suit with integrated adjustable suspenders and a drop-seat, made for extreme and professional snowmobiling. The one-piece cut keeps snow out, while the suspenders hold the suit in place.

    Is the suit warm?

Honestly: it is an uninsulated premium shell made for layering, so it does not add warmth on its own. The warmth comes from the layers underneath, for example a Finntrail base layer and an insulating layer. This lets you regulate warmth to the weather and avoid overheating when riding actively.

What makes the premium membrane special?

BACKCOUNTRY Blue uses a Japanese TORAY DERMIZAX® membrane: high water resistance of 20,000 mm and better breathability of 10,000 g/m²/24h, fully taped seams and Japanese YKK Aquaguard zippers. It is a higher-grade solution than a standard membrane, made for extreme and professional riding.

What cold is it good for?

With suitable base layers the suit works from +15 to −20 °C when riding actively. As it is a shell, the temperature range depends on the base and insulating layers you choose and how actively you move.

How does it keep snow out?

The one-piece cut, integrated snow gaiters, high collar with microfleece lining and ventilation with an inner mesh against snow keep snow out even in a fall or deep snow. Cuffs with thumb holes keep the sleeves in place.

How do I care for it and restore protection?

Wash cool on a gentle cycle, without softener or bleach, and dry at low temperature. Periodically restore the water-repellent finish (DWR) with a proofer so the membrane keeps repelling water and breathing.
