    What is this product and who is it for?

    Mountval Waterproof 400 ml is a colourless aerosol impregnation spray for footwear and clothing, packed in a larger volume. It is made for suede, nubuck, smooth leather, synthetic leather and textile, as well as for items with membranes. It protects from soaking up moisture and from grease stains, does not change the natural colour and is designed not to block the breathability of the leather.

    What problem does it solve?

    When the care of footwear and outdoor clothing becomes a routine, small packs run out too fast and the treatment gets postponed. Mountval Waterproof 400 ml is the same colourless formula in a larger volume, so one pack covers a whole season of care. The limit stays the same: the product restores the surface water repellency, but it does not make the item water tight and it does not replace a membrane.

    When and on what should you use it?

    • •For a home where several pairs of hiking, work or city footwear are looked after.
    • •For larger textile surfaces, for example several jackets in a row.
    • •At the start of the season, when the protection is renewed on all the family footwear.
    • •When a 200 ml pack is not enough and the price per millilitre matters.
    • •Together with the rest of the impregnation and protection products, to build a complete care kit.

    Which materials does it suit, and which does it not?

    The surface has to be cleaned before the treatment. For footwear use Mountval Shampoo 100 ml, for local stains Mountval Gel Cleaner 100 ml is handier.

    How do you use it step by step?

    Step 1

    Wipe dust and dirt off the whole surface.

    Step 2

    Shake the can well.

    Step 3

    Spray evenly from about 20 cm.

    Step 4

    Work only in a well ventilated place.

    Step 5

    Let it dry completely before you wear it.

    Aerosol pack: follow the safety requirements given on the label. Test a new or unusual material on a hidden area first.

    What is this product not suitable for?

    • •It does not make the item waterproof. It works on the surface, not on the construction, so with long soaking water will get inside.
    • •It is not for patent leather. A patent finish does not absorb the product.
    • •It is not a substitute for a cleaner. On a dirty surface the layer forms unevenly.
    • •It does not repair a membrane or seams. An impregnation spray does not fix mechanical damage.

    How does it differ from the closest Mountval products?

    When it suits better

    • The same formula in a smaller pack. Better for travel and for occasional use.
    • Sprayed without an aerosol, made for footwear in particular, including microfibre and membrane models.
    • Poured into the rinse compartment of the washing machine. Better when a whole jacket or a tent has to be treated evenly.

    Only the volume and the price per millilitre differ. The intended use, the materials and the way of applying it match Mountval Waterproof 200 ml.

    How many pairs of footwear can one pack treat?

    The manufacturer does not declare an exact number of pairs, because the usage depends on the size of the item and on the number of layers. The 400 ml pack is meant for the regular care of several items.

    Is it suitable for a tent or a backpack?

    The product is made for footwear and clothing. For large textile items and equipment Mountval Textile Shield 300 ml or Mountval Waterproofing Refresher 300 ml suit better.

    Can it be used indoors?

    Spray only in a well ventilated place. This is an aerosol product, so the flammability and inhalation safety requirements given on the label have to be followed.

    Will the treatment change the colour of my boots?

    The formula is colourless and it does not change the natural colour. Suede and nubuck in bright shades are still worth testing on a hidden area.
