What is this product and who is it for?
Mountval Waterproof 200 ml is a colourless aerosol impregnation spray for footwear and clothing. It is made for suede, nubuck, smooth leather, synthetic leather and textile, as well as for items with membranes. It protects the surface from soaking up moisture and from grease stains, does not change the natural colour and is designed not to block the breathability of the leather.

What problem does it solve?
When the surface of footwear or a jacket loses its factory water-repellent layer, water no longer beads up and soaks in instead: the material darkens, gets heavier and takes longer to dry. Mountval Waterproof 200 ml restores the surface water and dirt repellency, so moisture runs off and dirt comes away more easily. One important limit: the product works on the surface, so with long soaking or with leaking seams water will still get inside.
When and on what should you use it?
- •For new hiking or city boots, to protect them before the first rainy day.
- •For suede and nubuck footwear where water is starting to soak in.
- •For outdoor jackets, trousers and caps when you need quick surface protection.
- •For travel or occasional use, when a large pack is not needed.
- •Before a day of fishing, hiking or work in the wet, together with the other impregnation products.
Which materials does it suit, and which does it not?
The product is not a cleaner. If the surface is dirty, first use Mountval Gel Cleaner 100 ml or Mountval Shampoo 100 ml, and only then treat it.
How do you use it step by step?
Step 1
Remove dust and dirt, the surface has to be clean.
Step 2
Shake the can well before use.
Step 3
Spray evenly from about 20 cm, covering the seams as well.
Step 4
Work only in a well ventilated place or outdoors.
Step 5
Let the item dry completely before you wear it.
Aerosol pack: follow every flammability and inhalation safety requirement given on the label. Before the first use, test the product on a hidden area.
What is this product not suitable for?
- •It does not make the item waterproof. It restores the surface water repellency, but it does not create a water tight layer and it does not replace a membrane.
- •It is not for patent leather. It cannot soak into a closed patent finish and may leave marks.
- •It does not repair damage. Torn seams, holes or a damaged membrane are not restored by an impregnation spray.
- •It does not clean. On a dirty surface the treatment works worse, the dirt has to be removed separately.

Will my boots be waterproof after Mountval Waterproof 200 ml?
No. The product restores the surface water repellency: rain beads up and rolls off. Whether a boot keeps water out is decided by its construction and its membrane, not by an impregnation spray.
Can it be sprayed on suede and nubuck?
Yes, that is one of the main uses of the product. Test brightly coloured or light suede and nubuck on a hidden area first, because factory finishes differ.
How does the 200 ml version differ from the 400 ml one?
The formula is the same, only the volume differs. The 200 ml pack is handy for travel and occasional use, while Mountval Waterproof 400 ml is more economical when you care for several pairs of footwear.
How often should the treatment be repeated?
When water stops beading up and starts to darken the surface. With heavy use of footwear that is usually once a season or more often.
Is the product suitable for footwear with a membrane?
Yes. The product suits items with membranes: it works on the outer surface and is designed not to block breathability.
