    What is this product and who is it for?

    Mountval Wash & Care 315 ml is a special liquid detergent for technical, membrane and water-resistant textiles. It is intended for jackets, trousers, sports and hiking clothing, footwear and equipment made of technical fabrics, and also for tents, backpacks, bags and harnesses. The manufacturer recommends it for items with a DWR finish and with membranes.

    What problem does it solve?

    Ordinary washing powders and fabric softeners leave residue on technical fabric that draws in moisture and reduces breathability: the jacket wets out sooner even though the membrane is intact. Mountval Wash & Care 315 ml removes that residue and the dirt without closing the fabric. An important limit: this is a detergent, not a stand-alone way to restore water repellency.

    When and on what should you use it?

    • •For a membrane rain jacket and trousers at the end of the season.
    • •For sports and hiking clothing that has taken in sweat and dirt.
    • •For tents, backpacks, bags and harnesses.
    • •Before impregnation, when the item has to be completely clean.
    • •For the first care step, followed by Mountval Waterproofing Refresher 300 ml or Mountval Textile Shield 300 ml.

    Which materials does it suit, and which does it not?

    For wool there is Mountval Wool Wash 300 ml, for down Mountval Down Wash 300 ml, and for fleece and softshell fabrics Mountval Polar Wash 300 ml.

    How do you use it step by step?

    Step 1

    Empty the pockets and close the zips.

    Step 2

    In the machine pour 45 ml, about half a cap, for one cycle with up to two garments.

    Step 3

    By hand: 45 ml in 10 litres of warm water, soak for 10 to 15 minutes.

    Step 4

    Rinse thoroughly in cold water.

    Step 5

    Dry on a hanger, best of all in a well ventilated place.

    Always choose the programme and the temperature according to the care label of the item. Fabric softener must not be used. Store the product in its original packaging at +5 to +30 °C.

    What is this product not suitable for?

    • •This is a detergent, not an impregnation product. On its own it does not restore water repellency, a separate product is made for that.
    • •Do not use ordinary fabric softener. It coats the technical fabric and reduces its properties.
    • •Not suitable for wool and down. The manufacturer has separate detergents for these fibres.
    • •It does not repair a damaged membrane. Washing will not fix a worn or cracked membrane.

    How does it differ from the closest Mountval products?

    When it suits better

    • Impregnation product for the rinse compartment. Used after washing or in the same cycle.
    • Detergent for fleece and softshell fabrics. A better fit when softness matters more than membrane care.
    • Freshener used during the rinse. A better fit when the main problem is odour, not dirt.

    Does Mountval Wash & Care restore water repellency?

    Not directly. It removes the dirt and the detergent residue that reduce water repellency, but the DWR finish is restored by a separate impregnation product, for example Waterproofing Refresher.

    How much detergent should I use?

    In the machine 45 ml, about half a cap, for one cycle with no more than two garments. By hand: 45 ml in 10 litres of warm water.

    Can I use fabric softener?

    No. Softener coats the fibres of a technical fabric and reduces both breathability and water repellency.

    Is it suitable for a down jacket?

    No, down needs Mountval Down Wash 300 ml, which protects the natural oils of the down and its loft.

    At what temperature should the product be stored?

    Store in the original packaging at +5 to +30 °C.

    Is it suitable for a tent and a backpack?

    Yes. The manufacturer lists tents, backpacks, bags and harnesses as suitable items.
