    What is this product and who is it for?

    Care set for merino and base layers combines the Wool Wash 300 ml detergent with the Silver Freshness 315 ml freshener containing nano silver. It is meant for merino wool and base layers: shirts, leggings, socks, hats and gloves. Wool Wash works during the wash, Silver Freshness during the rinse, so the two do not overlap.

    What problem does it solve?

    Merino and base layers have two separate problems. First, they cannot be washed with an ordinary detergent: hot water, enzymes and bleach shrink and felt the fibre. Second, even freshly washed base layers start to smell quickly, because odour is not only about dirt. Care set for merino and base layers answers both: Wool Wash washes gently and reduces pilling, Silver Freshness neutralises odour during the rinse. The limit: Silver Freshness is neither a detergent nor a biocidal product.

    This bundle is not for a membrane rain jacket or waders; those need Mountval Wash & Care 315 ml. For fleece and softshell Mountval Polar Wash 300 ml works better. A bundle is two separate factory packs, not one mixed product. Use each product according to its own label and in the order described below.

    How do you use it step by step?

    Step 1

    Wash by hand or on the wool programme, taking the dose from the Wool Wash pack.

    Step 2

    Use a low temperature as the garment label allows, with no bleach and no fabric softener.

    Step 3

    Pour 45 ml of Silver Freshness into the rinse compartment and select a rinse programme.

    Step 4

    By hand: 45 ml of Silver Freshness in 10 litres of cold water, soak for 5 to 10 minutes.

    Step 5

    Press the water out without wringing hard; dry items that lose their shape flat.

    The manufacturer does not state a single shared cycle for these two products, so the bundle is used as a sequence: first the wash with Wool Wash, then the rinse with Silver Freshness. Shake the bottle before use. Do not use fabric softener, it is incompatible with both.

    The products are used as a sequence, not mixed. Wool Wash works during the wash, Silver Freshness goes into the rinse compartment. The manufacturer does not state a single shared cycle for these two.

    Why can merino not be washed with an ordinary detergent?

    Ordinary detergents with enzymes and bleach damage the wool fibre, and hot water shrinks it. Mountval Wool Wash is a low-foaming, enzyme-free detergent made specifically for wool and wool blends.
