Polyester, not cotton
Polyester does not soak up sweat and dries fast. A cotton top stays wet after a ride and starts to chill you when you stop.

Khaki does not stand out in nature, so it suits hunting and wildlife watching too, not only riding.
Care
Wash at 30 °C on a gentle cycle, without fabric softener: it coats the fibres and the jersey stops wicking moisture. Dry flat, away from radiators and direct sun.
