Finntrail PROGUIDE DarkGrey 1541 Waders
Guide-grade membrane waders for those who stand in the water all day, not just an hour. A 5-layer HARD-TEX® membrane with a DWR finish, 25,000 mm water resistance and fully taped seams: 4 mm neoprene stocking feet reinforced with Armortex® and Kevlar®, VentStrap 3D braces and YKK® Aquaguard zippers. Built for the serious angler who makes no compromises.
Who they are for
Made for the serious angler, fly-fishing enthusiast and guide for whom waders are a working tool, not a jacket pulled out once a year.
- •Long wading days on rivers and shorelines, when you spend hours in the water.
- •Fly fishing, where a free casting stroke and tools within reach matter.
- •Cold water and changeable seasons, when you need maximum protection and durability.
When they shine
They perform best on long fishing trips and in cold water, where cheap waders leak through the seams after a couple of hours or leave you sweaty inside. The 25,000 mm membrane and reinforced zones hold up where ordinary trousers give in.
Technical specs
Materials & technology
5-layer HARD-TEX® membrane
A thicker, five-layer microporous membrane with pores smaller than a raindrop and larger than a vapour molecule: it stops water (25,000 mm) yet lets sweat vapour escape, so you don’t overheat even on long wading days.
DWR finish
A thin water- and dirt-repellent finish on the outer layer: water beads and rolls off, the fabric wets out less and dries faster.
4 mm neoprene stocking feet with Armortex®/Kevlar®
Warm, dense neoprene stocking feet with cut- and abrasion-resistant Armortex® and Kevlar® reinforcements: they keep warmth in cold water and last longer. Boots are bought separately.
VentStrap 3D braces and YKK® Aquaguard
Three-dimensional, breathable braces with an adjustable YKK® belt and water-resistant YKK® Aquaguard zippers: a comfortable hold, smooth movement and hardware that won’t rust.
Fully taped seams and 3M™ reflectives
Taped strips seal the needle holes and the number of seams is minimised, so there are fewer places for water to get in. 3M™ reflectives improve visibility at dusk.
How they differ from a cheaper option
Care
Hand wash up to 30 °C with a dedicated membrane wash (Mountval Wash & Care), without softener or bleach: ordinary detergent clogs the membrane. When water stops beading, restore the water repellency (DWR) with an impregnator (Mountval Textile Shield). Dry naturally, not on a radiator or in the sun. Rinse the neoprene socks with fresh water after fishing and dry them well.
Frequently asked questions
Are the boots included?
No. These are stockingfoot waders: at the bottom they have 4 mm neoprene stocking feet reinforced with Armortex® and Kevlar®, while you choose and buy wading boots separately to match your size and the bottom type. This gives a better fit and lets you replace boots independently of the waders.
Do they really stay dry all day in the water?
Yes. The membrane is 5-layer HARD-TEX®, water resistance 25,000 mm, seams fully taped and kept to a minimum, with an extra-reinforced lower section. This is guide-grade protection for long days in the water.
Do they breathe, or will I sweat while wading?
They breathe: breathability is 7,000 g/m²/24h. The HARD-TEX® membrane lets sweat vapour out while keeping water off from outside, so you stay dry inside even when active. The VentStrap 3D braces let you drop the top during breaks.
What about tools for fly fishing?
The waders have a tool holder for fly fishing and D-rings, so pliers, a net or nippers are always within reach. Chest pockets: an outer fleece-lined hand warmer and an inner sealed pocket with a Zip Lock zipper for documents or a phone.
What sizes are there and how do I choose?
Sizes: XS, S, SK, M, MK, L, LL, LK, XL (the letter K marks a shorter cut). If you are between sizes or unsure about the foot size, message us and we will help you pick by height and boot number.
What about warranty and returns?

How to Choose the Correct FINNTRAIL Wader Size?
Choosing the correct wader size is one of the most important factors for comfort, freedom of movement and long-term durability. Waders that are too small may restrict movement and place excessive stress on seams, while oversized waders may reduce comfort and make active movement less efficient.
FINNTRAIL waders are designed to provide enough room for thermal and insulating layers while maintaining complete freedom of movement. Therefore, the size chart is based on body measurements, not the actual dimensions of the waders.
Measure Your Largest Girth
The first and most important measurement is your largest body girth. In most cases, this is either your hips or waist/stomach circumference, depending on which area is larger.
Measure: around the widest part of your body while keeping the measuring tape comfortably snug without tightening it.This measurement usually determines whether your waders will remain comfortable while walking, sitting, climbing or taking large steps.
Measure Your Inseam Length
The second important measurement is the inseam length.
Measure from the crotch down to the ankle along the inside of the leg. This measurement helps determine whether the wader length will be suitable for your height.
Important: If you are taller or shorter than average for your body circumference, consider choosing extended sizes (ML, LL, XLL) or wider sizes (SK, MK, LK, XLK, XXLK).FINNTRAIL Wader Size Chart

SK MK LK XLKWider sizes for larger body circumferences.
XXLK XXXLSizes designed for larger body dimensions and taller users.
If You Are Between Two Sizes
If your measurements fall between two sizes, it is generally recommended to choose the larger size.
- Provides additional room for thermal clothing and extra layers.
- Allows greater freedom of movement while fishing or riding off-road.
- Reduces stress on seams and membrane materials during active use.
Recommendation Before Ordering
Best results: Provide your height, largest body girth and inseam measurement. Based on these measurements, the most suitable FINNTRAIL wader size can be selected accurately. If you are unsure between several sizes, we recommend contacting us before placing your order. This helps avoid exchanges and ensures maximum comfort from the very first day of use.
Summary
To accurately choose your FINNTRAIL wader size, you need three key measurements: height, largest body girth and inseam length. Selecting the correct size ensures comfort, unrestricted movement, efficient layering and a longer product lifespan.
Product Care Instructions
- Wash membrane clothing only with special detergents, such as Mountval Wash & Care, at a temperature no higher than 30 °C, without fabric softeners or bleach.
- After washing, restore water repellency using Mountval Waterproofing Refresher (wash-in) or a spray-on impregnation, following the product instructions.
- After impregnation, allow the product to dry naturally.
- Repair minor membrane damages with special glue, such as Aquaseal / Aquasure, only on clean and dry surfaces.
- Clean boots by hand, do not use a washing machine; if needed, use impregnation products designed for technical footwear.
Regular care helps maintain water repellency, breathability, and prolongs the product's lifespan.

Membrane waterproofing and breathability
Membrane fabric is usually described using two numbers, often separated by a slash: waterproofness and breathability. The first number indicates waterproofness, the second indicates breathability.
?Waterproofing
This is a sliding scale measured in mm that shows how high a column of water you can suspend over the membrane before it starts to let moisture through.
Waterproof Rating Conditions 0–10,000 mm Light rain, dry snow, light pressure. 11,000–15,000 mm Moderate rain, average snow, light pressure. 16,000–20,000 mm Heavy rain, wet snow, some pressure. 20,000 mm+ Heavy rain, wet snow, high pressure. ?Breathability
This is the amount of moisture by weight that can pass through one square metre of fabric over a period of 24 hours. It is commonly measured in g/m²/24 hrs.
Breathability Rating Level of Breathability 0–5,000 g/m²/24 hrs Low – light exercise. 5,000–15,000 g/m²/24 hrs Medium – medium to high energy activity. 15,000 g/m²/24 hrs+ High – vigorous sustained activity.
