Which waders should you choose?
Finntrail waders are waterproof gear from your feet up to the waist or chest, made for wading while fishing and for crossing fords on an ATV. The range has two designs: stockingfoot waders with neoprene socks, worn with separate wading boots, and bootfoot waders with integrated boots. If you move a lot, membrane stockingfoot waders usually suit you best.

Who they are for
- •Anglers wading in rivers or lakes, standing in water up to the waist or chest and wanting to stay dry all day.
- •ATV riders crossing fords and mud holes: the membrane stands up to both water and mud.
- •The RACHEL line for women (1520 stockingfoot, 5300 bootfoot) is cut to a women’s pattern rather than scaled down from a men’s one.
- •For children there is AIRMAN KIDS 5219: the same HARD-TEX membrane and integrated boots, just in smaller sizes.
How to choose
First decide whether you want to choose your boots separately. The second question is the membrane’s margin: the waterproof rating of Finntrail waders in our range runs from 17,000 mm (TIMBER 1538) to 25,000 mm (AQUAMASTER 1536, PROGUIDE 1541, ENDURO 1539, SPEEDMASTER 1540).

- •Swimming. Waders are made for wading: do not go deeper than chest height in them.
- •Long walks on dry land. Waders with wading boots are heavier than hiking boots, and you will feel it on a longer hike.
- •Hot summer days in warm water. Then it is more comfortable to wade without waders; read more in our article what wet wading is.
- •Work near open fire or welding. Neither the membrane nor neoprene is spark resistant.
Frequently asked questions
Stockingfoot or bootfoot waders: which should I choose?
If you move a lot, ride an ATV or walk along the bank, choose stockingfoot waders with neoprene socks and separate wading boots: they are more flexible and dry faster. Bootfoot waders are more convenient when getting dressed quickly matters most.
Do I need to buy boots separately for stockingfoot waders?
Yes. Stockingfoot waders end in a neoprene sock, so you need wading boots. Take the boot one size larger than usual, because the neoprene sock goes inside it.
Which wader size should I choose if I am between two sizes?
Take the larger one. A thermal layer is usually worn under waders, and waders that are too tight strain the seams at the crotch. If the size is wrong, you can return them within 30 days.
What does 20,000 mm mean on waders?
It is the height of the water column the membrane withstands without letting water through. For Finntrail waders in our range this figure runs from 17,000 to 25,000 mm; a higher number means more margin when you stand in water for a long time or the fabric rubs.
How do I care for waders so they last longer?
Wash them with a detergent for membrane clothing, hang them to dry away from radiators, and renew the water repellent coating from time to time. Products and patches are in the care and repair products section.
