Finntrail MERINO Blue 3201 Socks
Warm merino wool socks for cooler weather, the cold season and the outdoors. They insulate well and wick moisture away, so your foot stays warm and dry even during long hours outside. Merino wool holds warmth and at the same time regulates temperature, so your foot does not chill on a cool morning or overheat as you move. The elastic fabric adapts to the foot and stays in place, reinforced heel and toe zones take the wear, and the breathable construction wicks moisture away efficiently. These are warm woollen socks for cool weather and the transitional season, comfortable all day outdoors.
Who it is for
Made for cooler weather and the cold season, when it matters that your foot stays warm and dry and the sock keeps its place.
- •For outdoor use and hiking in cool and cold weather.
- •For the transitional season, when mornings are cool and the day warmer.
- •For everyday wear in the cold season, when you want a warm foot.
When it shines
Best in cool and cold weather outdoors, when warmth and a dry foot matter: merino wool insulates, regulates temperature and wicks moisture away, while reinforced zones protect against wear. For the hot season, choose cooling Coolmax socks.
Technical specs
Materials & technology
Merino wool warmth
Merino wool holds warmth well even when thin and at the same time regulates temperature, so your foot does not chill in the cool or overheat as you move. It is a warm woollen feature, not cooling socks.
Moisture management and breathability
The merino fibre wicks moisture off the skin, and the breathable construction lets the foot breathe, so your foot stays dry and warm even during long hours outdoors.
Elastic, reinforced construction
The elastic fabric adapts to the foot and stays in place, and reinforced heel and toe zones take the greatest wear, where plain socks wear through first.
How they differ from plain socks
Care
Wash at 30 °C on a gentle cycle with a detergent made for wool and merino (Mountval Wool Wash). Skip the softener: it coats the fibre and merino stops wicking moisture. Odour is handled by a rinse-cycle freshener (Mountval Silver Freshness). Dry flat, away from heaters.
Frequently asked questions
Are these really warm socks?
Yes. These are warm merino wool socks for cooler weather and the cold season. Merino wool insulates and regulates temperature, so your foot stays warm without overheating. For the hot season, choose cooling Coolmax socks.
Why merino wool?
Merino wool holds warmth well even when thin, naturally regulates temperature and wicks moisture off the skin. So your foot stays warm and dry, and the sock breathes.
Does merino wool cause irritation?
Merino fibre is thin and soft, so it usually does not itch the way coarser wool can. Still, sensitivity varies, so if your skin is very sensitive, note how it feels on the first wear.
Do the socks stay up?
The elastic fabric adapts to the foot and stays in place, so the sock does not slide down or wrinkle inside the shoe.
How do I choose the size?
Choose your usual size; if you are between two, go up. If unsure, message us and we will help.

Membrane waterproofing and breathability
Membrane fabric is usually described using two numbers, often separated by a slash: waterproofness and breathability. The first number indicates waterproofness, the second indicates breathability.
?Waterproofing
This is a sliding scale measured in mm that shows how high a column of water you can suspend over the membrane before it starts to let moisture through.
Waterproof Rating Conditions 0–10,000 mm Light rain, dry snow, light pressure. 11,000–15,000 mm Moderate rain, average snow, light pressure. 16,000–20,000 mm Heavy rain, wet snow, some pressure. 20,000 mm+ Heavy rain, wet snow, high pressure. ?Breathability
This is the amount of moisture by weight that can pass through one square metre of fabric over a period of 24 hours. It is commonly measured in g/m²/24 hrs.
Breathability Rating Level of Breathability 0–5,000 g/m²/24 hrs Low – light exercise. 5,000–15,000 g/m²/24 hrs Medium – medium to high energy activity. 15,000 g/m²/24 hrs+ High – vigorous sustained activity.
