Cap Finntrail SPINNER GraphiteYellow 9623
A lightweight breathable cap with laser perforation and a firm curved brim, made for fishing, travel and active days outdoors in the warm season. The Finntrail SPINNER DarkGrey 9623 cap is made from a light moisture-wicking fabric, and the laser perforation on the side and back panels lets air through, so your head does not overheat. An inner band absorbs excess moisture and keeps a dry feel even under load, the firm curved brim shades your eyes from the sun, and the plastic adjuster at the back fits the cap to your head. This is an everyday warm season cap, not rain protection: it has no membrane.
Who it is for
Made for anyone who moves a lot outdoors in the warm season and wants shade for the eyes without a hot head.
- •Fishing on sunny days, when glare off the water tires your eyes.
- •Hiking, travel and ATV or UTV riding, when the cap stays on all day.
- •Everyday city wear, when a technical but quiet look works.
When it works best
It performs best on a warm, sunny day when you keep moving: the perforation on the sides and back releases heat, the inner band absorbs sweat, and the brim shades your eyes. For wet and cold weather choose the membrane cap WATERPROOFCAP 9621.
Technical data
Materials and technologies
Light moisture-wicking fabric
The fabric does not hold sweat against the skin but moves it outward, where it evaporates faster. That keeps the Finntrail SPINNER 9623 cap comfortable both on the trail and standing in the sun, and it dries quickly once you take it off.
Laser perforation on the sides and back
The micro holes are burned by laser, without extra seams or mesh inserts, so air moves around the whole cap. Ventilation works constantly, not only while you move, and the head does not overheat on a warm day.
Inner moisture-absorbing band
The band along the forehead collects excess moisture, so sweat does not build up at the edge of the cap and run into your eyes. A small detail, but the one you feel most under load.
Firm curved brim and plastic adjuster
The firm brim holds its shape and shades your eyes from direct sun and from glare reflected off the water. The plastic adjuster at the back fits the cap to your head, and the light plastic hardware adds no weight.
How it differs from a plain cap
Care
Wash at 30 °C on a gentle cycle with a detergent made for synthetic fabrics (Mountval Polar Wash). Skip the softener: it clogs the fabric and reduces the moisture wicking you bought this cap for. Odour, which sinks in fastest around the head, is handled by a rinse-cycle freshener (Mountval Silver Freshness). Dry flat, away from heaters and direct sun, and keep the brim out of the tumble dryer.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Finntrail SPINNER 9623 cap waterproof?
No. It is a lightweight ventilated cap with no membrane, so it soaks through in rain and the perforated panels let water in. For wet and cold weather choose the membrane cap Finntrail WATERPROOFCAP 9621.
Will my head overheat on a hot day?
Three things work against that: the light moisture-wicking fabric, the laser perforation on the side and back panels, and the inner band that absorbs excess moisture. That is exactly why the Finntrail SPINNER 9623 cap is built for activity rather than cold weather.
What size is it and is it adjustable?
The cap comes in one size (OS) for adults. There is a plastic adjuster at the back, so it fits your head and stays on even in a windy boat. The manufacturer does not state head circumference in centimetres.
How do I wash the SPINNER 9623 cap?
Wash at 30 °C on a gentle cycle with a detergent for synthetic fabrics, without softener or bleach, and dry it flat. Hot water and a tumble dryer damage the shape of the brim and the plastic hardware.
What is the difference between the 9623 colours?
Only the colour differs. DarkGrey, GraphiteYellow, Grey and Olive share the same build: moisture-wicking fabric, laser perforation, inner band, firm curved brim and a plastic adjuster.

Membrane waterproofing and breathability
Membrane fabric is usually described using two numbers, often separated by a slash: waterproofness and breathability. The first number indicates waterproofness, the second indicates breathability.
?Waterproofing
This is a sliding scale measured in mm that shows how high a column of water you can suspend over the membrane before it starts to let moisture through.
Waterproof Rating Conditions 0–10,000 mm Light rain, dry snow, light pressure. 11,000–15,000 mm Moderate rain, average snow, light pressure. 16,000–20,000 mm Heavy rain, wet snow, some pressure. 20,000 mm+ Heavy rain, wet snow, high pressure. ?Breathability
This is the amount of moisture by weight that can pass through one square metre of fabric over a period of 24 hours. It is commonly measured in g/m²/24 hrs.
Breathability Rating Level of Breathability 0–5,000 g/m²/24 hrs Low – light exercise. 5,000–15,000 g/m²/24 hrs Medium – medium to high energy activity. 15,000 g/m²/24 hrs+ High – vigorous sustained activity.
