Insulated suit Finntrail ATLAS Graphite 3440
A two piece winter suit with a 4 layer HARD-TEX® membrane and a RIPSTOP face: 17 000 mm water resistance, 7 000 g/m²/24h moisture transfer and protection down to –20 °C. The Finntrail ATLAS Graphite 3440 comes as a jacket and a bib. Thermalrate insulation with a microfibre lining holds the warmth, fully sealed seams and water resistant zippers keep moisture out, and the RIPSTOP face stops a tear from spreading if the fabric catches. A TEFLON finish repels mud, 3M™ reflective details help you be seen at dusk, and YKK zippers last as long as the suit itself.
Who it is for
Made for winter riding and outdoor days, when it is cold and damp and you move a lot.
- •Snowmobile and winter sport enthusiasts.
- •Active time outdoors during the cold season.
- •Anyone who needs warmth and moisture protection down to –20 °C.
When it works best
Best on a cold, windy, snowy day: 17 000 mm water resistance keeps snow outside, 7 000 g/m²/24h moisture transfer lets sweat out, and Thermalrate insulation with a microfibre lining warms down to –20 °C.
Technical data
Materials and technologies
HARD-TEX membrane with RIPSTOP face
The four layer membrane holds water and wind out, and the RIPSTOP weave keeps a small tear from spreading. For the Finntrail ATLAS 3440 that matters where branches and machine parts are everywhere.
Thermalrate insulation with microfibre lining
The insulation holds warmth and the microfibre lining makes the suit comfortable to wear. Protection is stated down to –20 °C.
Sealed seams, YKK and TEFLON
Fully sealed seams and water resistant YKK zippers close the places where moisture gets in first. The TEFLON finish repels mud, so the suit is easier to clean after a ride.
How it differs from a rain suit
Care
Wash up to 30 °C with a membrane detergent (Mountval Wash & Care), without softener or bleach: ordinary detergent clogs the membrane. When water stops beading, restore the water repellency (DWR) with an impregnator (Mountval Textile Shield). Dry naturally, not on a radiator or in the sun. Out of season store it dry and hanging, not compressed.
Frequently asked questions
How cold can the Finntrail ATLAS 3440 handle?
Protection is stated down to –20 °C. In practice the thermal layer underneath and whether you keep moving or stand still both matter.
Is it waterproof?
Water resistance is 17 000 mm, the membrane is 4 layer HARD-TEX, the seams are fully sealed and the zippers are water resistant. Moisture transfer of 7 000 g/m²/24h lets sweat out from the inside.
What do the RIPSTOP and TEFLON finishes do?
The RIPSTOP weave stops a tear from spreading if you catch a branch or a part of the machine. The TEFLON finish repels mud, so the suit stays cleaner and is easier to wipe down.
How is it different from the TOURNAMENT 3470?
The ATLAS 3440 has 17 000 mm water resistance, RIPSTOP and TEFLON finishes and stated protection to –20 °C. The TOURNAMENT 3470 has 20 000 mm, magnetic storm flaps and tool pockets, aimed more at long trips with machinery.
Can I machine wash it?
Yes, up to 30 °C with a membrane detergent, without softener or bleach. After a few washes it is worth renewing the water repellency with an impregnator.

How to Choose the Correct FINNTRAIL Men’s Snowmobile Gear Size
Choosing the correct snowmobile gear size is important for comfort, freedom of movement, heat retention, and protection against snow, wind, and moisture. Gear that is too small may restrict movement and feel tight when worn with base and insulation layers, while gear that is too large may reduce heat retention and make active movement less comfortable.
The FINNTRAIL snowmobile gear size chart shows body measurements, not garment measurements. The gear is designed with extra room for comfort, movement, and proper layering in cold weather.
Measure Your Chest
Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the measuring tape horizontal. Stand straight and keep the tape close to the body, but not tight.
How to measure: measure around the widest part of your chest while breathing normally and keeping your body relaxed.Measure Your Waist
Measure around the narrowest part of your waist or where you naturally wear your pants. This measurement is especially important for pants and bibs, so the gear does not restrict movement while sitting, bending, or riding actively.
Important: do not pull in your stomach or tighten the measuring tape too much. Snowmobile gear should leave enough room for base and insulation layers.Measure Your Hips and Largest Girth
Measure your hips around the widest part. Also check your largest body girth — this may be the chest, stomach, or hips, depending on body shape.
Main rule: if one measurement falls into a larger size, choose the size according to your largest body girth. This helps prevent tightness and restricted movement.Measure Your Inseam and Arm Length
Inseam is measured from the crotch to the inside of the ankle. Arm length helps determine whether the jacket sleeves will properly cover your arms during movement and when wearing gloves.
These measurements are especially important for taller users or people with non-standard proportions. If your girths match one size but your height or limb length matches another, consider longer or wider size options.
How to Use the Size Chart
Measurement Description Height Body height in centimeters. Chest Chest circumference measured around the fullest part of the chest. Waist Waist circumference. Hips Hip circumference measured around the widest part of the hips. Largest Girth The largest body circumference — chest, stomach, or hips. Inseam Inside leg length from crotch to ankle. Arm Length Sleeve / arm length. First, check your girth measurements: chest, waist, hips, and largest body girth. Then confirm whether the selected size also matches your height, inseam, and arm length.

XXL XXXLLarger sizes for taller users and broader body types.
If You Are Between Two Sizes
If your measurements fall between two sizes, consider how you will use the gear. For active movement and layering, it is usually better to choose a size that does not create tension in the fabric.
- If warmth and layering are the priority, choose the larger size.
- If you will use the gear actively, make sure it does not restrict knees, shoulders, or arms.
- If height matches one size but girths match another, prioritize the largest body girth.
- If you will wear a thicker insulation layer, leave additional space.
Important: snowmobile gear should not fit like everyday clothing. It must allow space for base layers, insulation, air gap, and unrestricted movement.Recommendation Before Ordering
Before ordering FINNTRAIL snowmobile gear, measure your main body parameters and compare them with the chart. Take measurements while wearing a thin base layer or clothing similar to what you will actually wear under the gear.
Best result: provide your height, chest, waist, hips, and largest body girth. If possible, also include inseam and arm length.Summary
To choose the correct FINNTRAIL men’s snowmobile gear size, the most important measurements are height, chest circumference, waist circumference, hips, largest body girth, inseam, and arm length. A correctly selected size ensures warmth, freedom of movement, comfortable layering, and effective protection in winter conditions.

Membrane waterproofing and breathability
Membrane fabric is usually described using two numbers, often separated by a slash: waterproofness and breathability. The first number indicates waterproofness, the second indicates breathability.
?Waterproofing
This is a sliding scale measured in mm that shows how high a column of water you can suspend over the membrane before it starts to let moisture through.
Waterproof Rating Conditions 0–10,000 mm Light rain, dry snow, light pressure. 11,000–15,000 mm Moderate rain, average snow, light pressure. 16,000–20,000 mm Heavy rain, wet snow, some pressure. 20,000 mm+ Heavy rain, wet snow, high pressure. ?Breathability
This is the amount of moisture by weight that can pass through one square metre of fabric over a period of 24 hours. It is commonly measured in g/m²/24 hrs.
Breathability Rating Level of Breathability 0–5,000 g/m²/24 hrs Low – light exercise. 5,000–15,000 g/m²/24 hrs Medium – medium to high energy activity. 15,000 g/m²/24 hrs+ High – vigorous sustained activity.
