Insulated suit Finntrail FLOAT Red 3900

A one piece winter suit with float assist technology, a HARD-TEX® membrane (2.5 layer), 12 000 mm water resistance and Thermalrate insulation down to –30 °C. The Finntrail FLOAT Red 3900 is made for ice fishing and snowmobiling, where it is cold and the ground underfoot is not always solid. Float assist gives extra buoyancy help if you end up in water, and Thermalrate insulation with a microfleece lining holds warmth down to –30 °C. Fully sealed seams and 12 000 mm water resistance keep moisture out, reinforced knees, seat and legs take the friction, and the red colour makes you visible against white.

    Who it is for

Made for ice fishing and snowmobiling, when it is cold and the surroundings call for caution.

    • •Ice fishing, where both warmth and visibility matter.
    • •Snowmobiling and active winter days.
    • •Hard weather down to –30 °C.

    When it works best

Best on the ice in hard frost: the insulation holds warmth while seated, sealed seams and 12 000 mm keep moisture out, and float assist adds buoyancy help if something goes wrong.

    Materials and technologies

    Float assist buoyancy help

The construction adds buoyancy if you end up in water. That is time gained in a critical situation, but not a life jacket: the Finntrail FLOAT 3900 does not replace a certified life saving device.

    HARD-TEX membrane and sealed seams

The membrane with 12 000 mm water resistance and fully sealed seams holds moisture back, while 8 000 g/m²/24h breathability lets sweat out during activity.

    Thermalrate insulation and microfleece

The insulation with a microfleece lining gives comfort down to –30 °C and holds warmth while you sit on the ice. Inner cuffs and snow gaiters close the gaps at the wrists and boots.

How it differs from the Widetrack Pro 3855

    Widetrack Pro 3855

    • No float assist technology
    • Cordura reinforcements and knee pads
    • Aimed at snowmobile durability
    • Graphite colour, less visible in snow

    Finntrail FLOAT 3900

    • Float assist: extra buoyancy help
    • 12 000 mm water resistance, 8 000 g/m²/24h breathability
    • Thermalrate insulation down to –30 °C
    • Red colour, easy to see on ice

    Care

Wash up to 30 °C with a membrane detergent (Mountval Wash & Care), without softener or bleach: ordinary detergent clogs the membrane. When water stops beading, restore the water repellency (DWR) with an impregnator (Mountval Textile Shield). Dry naturally, not on a radiator or in the sun. Out of season store it dry and hanging, not compressed.

    Frequently asked questions

Does the FLOAT 3900 replace a life jacket?

No. Float assist is extra buoyancy help in a critical situation, not a certified life saving device. Where a life jacket is required, wear one.

    How does float assist work?

The construction adds buoyancy if you end up in water or the ice gives way. It buys you time to get out, but it does not replace safety rules: check the ice thickness and carry ice picks.

    How warm is it?

Thermalrate insulation with a microfleece lining gives comfort down to –30 °C. As always, wind and the thermal layer underneath make a real difference.

    Is it waterproof?

Water resistance is 12 000 mm, the membrane is 2.5 layer HARD-TEX and the seams are fully sealed. Breathability of 8 000 g/m²/24h lets sweat out when you walk or drill.

How is it different from the Widetrack Pro 3855?

The FLOAT 3900 has float assist buoyancy help and a bright red colour. The Widetrack Pro 3855 has no float assist but adds Cordura reinforcements and foam knee pads, so it leans towards snowmobile durability.
