Finntrail SIERRA DarkGrey 4615 Rain Trousers
Light women’s membrane trousers: 2.5 layer HARD-TEX®, 12 000 mm and 7 000 g/m²/24h. The Finntrail SIERRA DarkGrey 4615 trousers are for the day when the weather turns and you would rather not stop. The membrane with fully taped seams keeps out rain, wind and spray, while 7 000 g/m²/24h breathability lets you move without soaking yourself. The build is light, so the trousers fit in a backpack and wait their turn, and the ergonomic cut with an adjustable belt lets you fit them to your shape.
Who they are for
Made for an active woman outdoors: fishing by the water, riding an ATV and travelling, when rain can arrive at any moment.
- •Fishing by the water and from a boat.
- •ATV riding, off-road and mud trails.
- •Hiking and everyday trips in changeable weather.
When they shine
Best on a rainy, windy day: 12 000 mm and taped seams keep water outside, while the light 2.5 layer fabric does not restrict movement or weigh your pack down.
Technical specs
Materials & technology
HARD-TEX membrane, 2.5 layer
The membrane holds back rain and wind but lets vapour through. Two and a half layers is a trade in favour of weight: the protection stays and the trousers still fit in a pack.
Fully taped seams
Every seam is a row of needle holes water could pass through. Tape covers them, which is what makes the 12 000 mm figure mean something in practice.
Breathability 7 000 g/m²/24h
Sweat vapour leaves through the fabric, so the trousers do not get damp from the inside while you move. That is what separates a membrane from a plastic layer.
Ergonomic cut and belt
The cut follows movement, and the adjustable belt lets you tighten the trousers to your shape and to whatever you wear underneath.
Light construction
The trousers are light and small when rolled, so you can carry them all season and put them on only when you need to.
How they differ from softshell trousers
Care
Wash up to 30 °C with a dedicated membrane wash (Mountval Wash & Care), without softener or bleach: ordinary detergent clogs the membrane. When water stops beading, restore the water repellency (DWR) with an impregnator (Mountval Textile Shield). Dry naturally, not on a radiator or in the sun. Out of season store them dry and on a hanger, not compressed.
Frequently asked questions
Are the SIERRA 4615 trousers waterproof?
Water resistance is 12 000 mm, the membrane is 2.5 layer HARD-TEX and the seams are fully taped. That means water gets through neither the fabric nor the stitching.
Are they warm?
They have no insulation: these are rain trousers, not winter ones. On a cold day wear a base layer or fleece trousers underneath, and for deep cold choose insulated bibs.
Can I wear them over other trousers?
Yes, the light cut and the adjustable belt are made for that: you pull them on when the rain starts and take them off when it clears.
How do they differ from the TACTIC 4609 softshell trousers?
SIERRA 4615 are rain trousers with 12 000 mm and taped seams, built for protection. TACTIC 4609 is a softshell with 10 000 g/m²/24h breathability, built for mobility, but it does not hold sustained rain.
How do I wash them so the membrane lasts?
Wash up to 30 °C with a dedicated membrane wash (Mountval Wash & Care), without softener, and restore the water repellency with an impregnator (Mountval Textile Shield). Dry naturally, away from radiators: proper care keeps both the waterproofing and the breathability.

How to choose the right FINNTRAIL women’s pants size?
Choosing the correct women’s pants size ensures comfort, freedom of movement and a proper fit during active use.
The size chart shows body measurements, not the actual garment dimensions. FINNTRAIL pants are designed for comfortable movement and allow room for additional base layers.
Measure your height
Height should be measured while standing straight, from the feet to the top of the head. This measurement helps evaluate the overall pants length.
Tip: height is especially important when choosing pants for active movement or wearing with thicker footwear.Measure your waist
Waist circumference should be measured around the narrowest part of your waist. The measuring tape should sit close to the body without being too tight.
Measure your hips
Hip circumference should be measured around the fullest part of your hips. This is one of the most important measurements when choosing women’s pants.
Measure your inseam
Inseam length is measured from the crotch to the inside of the ankle. This measurement helps determine whether the pants length will match your height.
Important: if your measurements fall between two sizes, we recommend checking waist, hips and inseam correspondence before choosing the final size.Women’s pants size chart in centimetres

Inseam Length from the crotch to the inside of the ankle. First select the size according to your waist and hip measurements, then check whether your height and inseam match the recommended range.
What do the size markings mean?
XXS XS SSmaller sizes for shorter height and a slimmer body shape.
M LStandard sizes for women with an average body build.
SQ MQ LQWider sizes for larger waist or hip measurements.
XL XXLLarger sizes for taller women and larger body measurements.
Recommendation
If your measurements fall between two sizes, it is usually recommended to choose the larger size. This provides more freedom of movement, improves comfort with base layers and makes the pants better suited for active use.

Membrane waterproofing and breathability
Membrane fabric is usually described using two numbers, often separated by a slash: waterproofness and breathability. The first number indicates waterproofness, the second indicates breathability.
?Waterproofing
This is a sliding scale measured in mm that shows how high a column of water you can suspend over the membrane before it starts to let moisture through.
Waterproof Rating Conditions 0–10,000 mm Light rain, dry snow, light pressure. 11,000–15,000 mm Moderate rain, average snow, light pressure. 16,000–20,000 mm Heavy rain, wet snow, some pressure. 20,000 mm+ Heavy rain, wet snow, high pressure. ?Breathability
This is the amount of moisture by weight that can pass through one square metre of fabric over a period of 24 hours. It is commonly measured in g/m²/24 hrs.
Breathability Rating Level of Breathability 0–5,000 g/m²/24 hrs Low – light exercise. 5,000–15,000 g/m²/24 hrs Medium – medium to high energy activity. 15,000 g/m²/24 hrs+ High – vigorous sustained activity.
