Finntrail MIST Olive 4033 Raincoat
A lightweight membrane raincoat for fishing, ATV riding and other outdoor activities when the weather turns every hour. Wear it on its own or over clothing and gear, and pack it into its own hood when you do not need it. The Finntrail MIST 4033 raincoat is made from a 2.5-layer fabric with a HARD-TEX membrane and a durable water-repellent (DWR) finish. All seams are taped and the zippers are water-resistant, so rain and wind stay outside. A straight fit with an extended back, a high collar and a hood with a laminated visor cover the gaps a short jacket leaves open. The coat is not insulated: you choose the warmth yourself by what you wear underneath.
Who it is for
Made for people who spend hours outdoors and do not want the rain to cut them short: anglers by the water, ATV riders on a trip and travellers who need protection that fits in a backpack.
- •For fishing from the bank or a boat, when rain comes unannounced.
- •For ATV trips at a steadier pace, pulled on over your riding gear.
- •For everyday wear in town and on the road, waiting in a backpack or car.
When it works best and who it is not for
Best in changeable spring, summer and autumn weather, when showers come and go and the coat has to go on quickly over what you already wear. Not for: the coat has no insulation, so on a cold day wear a warm layer under it. The light 2.5-layer fabric is less abrasion-resistant than a 3-layer one, so for heavy daily work in thick brush pick a tougher jacket. The long cut is not meant for hours of aggressive ATV riding: rain suits work better for that.
Technical data
Materials and technology
2.5-layer fabric with a HARD-TEX membrane
The membrane blocks rain and wind and lets moisture out from the inside, so the coat does not turn into a sauna. The half layer on the inside is a protective print instead of a separate lining: the fabric stays light and fits in the hood, but it is less abrasion-resistant than a 3-layer fabric.
DWR finish
A water-repellent finish on the outer fabric: rain beads and rolls off, the surface soaks up less and dries faster. It is not a membrane but its helper, so over time the finish needs renewing with an impregnator.
Taped seams and water-resistant zippers
Tape covers every needle hole, and the zippers hold water back where an ordinary garment leaks first.
Hood, collar and raglan sleeves
The hood adjusts in two directions to sit close to your head, while the laminated visor keeps its shape and keeps rain off your face. The high collar closes the neck against wind, and the raglan sleeves with hook-and-loop cuffs let you raise your arms freely when casting or steering.
How to choose between Finntrail rainwear
Care
Wash up to 30 °C with a dedicated membrane wash (Mountval Wash & Care), without softener or bleach: ordinary detergent clogs the membrane. When water stops beading, restore the water repellency (DWR) with an impregnator (Mountval Textile Shield). Dry naturally, not on a radiator or in the sun. Pack the coat into its hood only when dry, and out of season store it hanging, not compressed.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Finntrail MIST 4033 raincoat waterproof?
Rain is kept out by the HARD-TEX membrane in the 2.5-layer fabric: it blocks water and wind and lets moisture out from the inside. All seams are taped and the zippers are water-resistant. We have no confirmed hydrostatic head figure for this model, so we do not quote one.
What is the difference between the DWR finish and the membrane?
DWR is a thin water-repellent finish on the outer fabric: drops roll off and the surface soaks up less water. The membrane is a layer inside the fabric that actually stops the water. The finish wears off over time, so you renew it with an impregnator, while the membrane stays.
Is MIST warm?
No, the coat is not insulated. It protects from rain and wind, and the warmth comes from what you wear underneath. On a cool day a fleece is enough, on a cold day wear a warm jacket under it: the straight fit leaves room for layers.
Is the coat suitable for ATV riding?
It works for ATV trips when you need to cover your riding gear quickly against rain. As it is a long coat, for hours of aggressive riding in mud a rain suit with separate trousers is more comfortable.
How do I pack and carry the coat?
The Finntrail MIST 4033 raincoat packs into its own hood and fastens with a hook. The small bundle is easy to keep in a backpack, boat or car, so it is at hand when the rain starts.
Which size should I take?
You will often wear the coat over other clothing, so think of the thickest layer you plan to wear under it. Available sizes are M, L, XL and XXL. Not sure, send us your height and what you will wear underneath, and we will help you choose.

How to Choose the Correct FINNTRAIL Men’s Jackets Size
Choosing the correct FINNTRAIL jacket size ensures comfort, freedom of movement, effective layering and proper protection from weather conditions. A size that is too small may restrict movement and feel tight around the chest or shoulders, while a size that is too large may reduce heat retention and overall fit.
The size chart shows body measurements, not garment measurements. FINNTRAIL gear is designed with extra room for comfort and movement, so sizing should be selected according to your body measurements.
Measure Your Chest Girth
Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the measuring tape horizontal. Stand straight and keep the tape close to the body, but not tight.
How to measure: measure around the widest part of your chest while breathing naturally and keeping your body relaxed. This measurement is especially important when choosing jackets and the upper part of a suit.
Measure Your Waist and Hips
Measure your waist at the narrowest part or where you usually wear your pants. Measure your hips around the widest part.
Important: do not pull in your stomach and do not tighten the measuring tape too much. The gear should leave enough room for movement, base layers and comfortable sitting. If you are choosing a suit or pants, hip and waist measurements are just as important as height.
Measure Inseam and Sleeve Length
Inseam is measured from the crotch to the inside of the ankle. Sleeve length helps determine whether the jacket sleeves will properly cover your arms during active movement.
Recommendation: check these measurements if you are taller, have longer arms or legs, or are choosing between a standard and a longer size. How to Use the Size Chart
Measurement Description Height Body height in centimeters. Chest girth Chest circumference measured around the fullest part of the chest. Waist girth Waist circumference. Hips Hip circumference measured around the widest part of the hips. Inseam Inside leg length from crotch to ankle. Sleeve Sleeve length. First, choose the size according to the main girth measurements — chest, waist and hips. Then check whether the selected size matches your height, inseam and sleeve length.

S M L XLStandard sizes for men with average body proportions.
MLLonger size for taller users whose girths match size M but who need extra length.
SK MK LK XLKWider sizes for larger chest, waist or hip measurements.
XXL XXXLLarger sizes for taller users or broader body types.
If You Are Between Two Sizes
If your measurements fall between two sizes, choose according to how the gear will be used. Jackets and suits should leave enough room for base layers, while thermals should fit closer to the body without restricting movement.
- If you are choosing a jacket or suit, the larger size is usually the safer choice.
- If you are choosing thermal clothing, the fit should be close but not tight.
- If height matches one size but girths match another, prioritize girth measurements.
- If you will wear additional layers, leave more room.
Important: technical gear should not be too tight. Fabric under tension wears faster and may restrict membrane performance and freedom of movement.Recommendation Before Ordering
Before ordering a FINNTRAIL jacket, suit or thermal clothing, accurately measure your main body parameters. Take measurements while wearing a thin base layer or clothing similar to what you plan to wear under the gear.
Best result: provide your height, chest, waist and hip measurements. If possible, also include inseam and sleeve length.Summary
To choose the correct FINNTRAIL men’s jackets, suits or thermals size, the most important measurements are height, chest girth, waist girth, hips, inseam and sleeve length. A correctly selected size ensures comfort, layering ability, freedom of movement and effective protection for active use.

Membrane waterproofing and breathability
Membrane fabric is usually described using two numbers, often separated by a slash: waterproofness and breathability. The first number indicates waterproofness, the second indicates breathability.
?Waterproofing
This is a sliding scale measured in mm that shows how high a column of water you can suspend over the membrane before it starts to let moisture through.
Waterproof Rating Conditions 0–10,000 mm Light rain, dry snow, light pressure. 11,000–15,000 mm Moderate rain, average snow, light pressure. 16,000–20,000 mm Heavy rain, wet snow, some pressure. 20,000 mm+ Heavy rain, wet snow, high pressure. ?Breathability
This is the amount of moisture by weight that can pass through one square metre of fabric over a period of 24 hours. It is commonly measured in g/m²/24 hrs.
Breathability Rating Level of Breathability 0–5,000 g/m²/24 hrs Low – light exercise. 5,000–15,000 g/m²/24 hrs Medium – medium to high energy activity. 15,000 g/m²/24 hrs+ High – vigorous sustained activity.
