Finntrail HAT WATERPROOF Red 9714 Winter Beanie
A winter beanie with an integrated HARD-TEX® membrane and a fleece lining. It keeps out water and wind, while the fleece lining keeps your head warm on a cold, wet day outdoors. The HARD-TEX membrane keeps out water and wind, while the soft fleece lining keeps your head warm even in damp, windy weather. The fabric wicks away sweat so your head does not get cold from moisture, and the beanie itself is light and does not get in the way of movement. It is made for winter sport, hiking and fishing when it is cold and wet outdoors.
Who it is for
Made for active outdoor use in cold, wet weather, when you need to protect your head from wind and water and keep it warm at the same time.
- •For winter sport and fishing on a cold, wet day.
- •For hiking and active rest outdoors when the wind blows.
- •For everyday wear in the cold season, when it matters that your head stays dry and warm.
When it shines
Best on a cold, wet and windy day outdoors: the HARD-TEX membrane keeps out rain and wind, the fleece lining keeps your head warm, and moisture wicking removes sweat so your head does not get cold.
Technical specs
Materials & technology
HARD-TEX membrane
The integrated membrane keeps water and wind out from the outside, but lets sweat moisture escape from the inside. So in rain, sleet and wind your head stays dry and warm.
Fleece lining
The soft fleece lining keeps your head warm and holds the heat even in damp, windy weather. Together with the membrane it makes the beanie right for cold fishing and hiking days.
Moisture wicking, light weight
The fabric wicks away sweat so your head does not get cold from moisture during active use. The beanie itself is light and does not get in the way all day outdoors.
How it differs from a plain beanie
Care
Wash cool on a gentle setting, without fabric softener or bleach: gentle washing protects the HARD-TEX membrane. Dry at room temperature, away from radiators, so the membrane and fleece lining last longer.

Membrane waterproofing and breathability
Membrane fabric is usually described using two numbers, often separated by a slash: waterproofness and breathability. The first number indicates waterproofness, the second indicates breathability.
?Waterproofing
This is a sliding scale measured in mm that shows how high a column of water you can suspend over the membrane before it starts to let moisture through.
Waterproof Rating Conditions 0–10,000 mm Light rain, dry snow, light pressure. 11,000–15,000 mm Moderate rain, average snow, light pressure. 16,000–20,000 mm Heavy rain, wet snow, some pressure. 20,000 mm+ Heavy rain, wet snow, high pressure. ?Breathability
This is the amount of moisture by weight that can pass through one square metre of fabric over a period of 24 hours. It is commonly measured in g/m²/24 hrs.
Breathability Rating Level of Breathability 0–5,000 g/m²/24 hrs Low – light exercise. 5,000–15,000 g/m²/24 hrs Medium – medium to high energy activity. 15,000 g/m²/24 hrs+ High – vigorous sustained activity.
