Technical specs
Materials & technology
HIPORA® membrane
The breathable HIPORA® membrane (10,000 mm water column, 8,000 g/m² per 24 h) keeps out water and wind, and the DWR finish beads drops off, so your hand stays dry.
Hard carbon knuckle guard
A hard carbon-fibre guard over the knuckles absorbs impacts, while sturdy inserts protect the hand in off-road, ATV/UTV and snowmobiling conditions.
Genuine leather palm
The genuine leather palm with synthetic suede reinforcements delivers a firm grip and durability, while the microfleece lining adds warmth and comfort.
Cuff and insulation
The 3 mm neoprene cuff with hook-and-loop straps sits snugly at the wrist, Thermalrate insulation holds the heat down to −15 °C, and a soft suede thumb zone is handy for wiping moisture off your face.
How it differs from ordinary winter gloves
Care
Hand wash cool with a detergent made for synthetic fabrics (Mountval Polar Wash), without softener or bleach. Dry at room temperature, not near a radiator: heat damages the membrane and the taped seams. Odour inside the gloves is handled by a spray (Mountval Helmet Clean & Fresh).
Frequently asked questions
What cold are these gloves made for?
The maker states they are made for cold down to −15 °C. In real use, a lot depends on movement, wind and whether your hand stays active.
Are the gloves waterproof?
Yes. The HIPORA® membrane (10,000 mm water column) keeps out water and wind, and your hand stays dry in snow and slush. The membrane breathes, so sweat from inside is vented out, while the DWR finish beads drops off the surface.
What is the palm made of?
The palm is genuine leather with synthetic suede reinforcements, so it grips well and is durable, while the inside is lined with microfleece for warmth. Sizes M–XL are available.
What makes the knuckle guard special?
These are the only gloves in this range with a hard carbon (carbon-fibre) knuckle guard: it absorbs impacts and protects the hand in off-road, ATV/UTV and snowmobiling conditions. Extra sturdy inserts add protection.
How do I care for the gloves?
Hand wash cool with a detergent for synthetic fabrics (Mountval Polar Wash) and dry at room temperature, not near a radiator. Odour inside is handled by a spray (Mountval Helmet Clean & Fresh).

How to Choose the Correct FINNTRAIL Men’s Glove Size
Choosing the correct glove size is important for comfort, grip, and precise hand movement. Gloves that are too small may compress the palm, restrict finger movement, and wear out faster, while gloves that are too large may reduce control, slip on the hand, and interfere with active use.
FINNTRAIL glove size is selected according to palm circumference in centimeters. Measure around the palm, just below the knuckles, without including the thumb.
Measure Your Palm Circumference
Wrap the measuring tape around the widest part of your palm, just below the knuckles. Do not include the thumb in the measurement.
How to measure: keep your hand relaxed, with the measuring tape close to the palm, but not tight enough to press into the skin.If you measure both hands and the circumference differs, choose the size according to the larger hand.
Select Your Size Using the Chart
Compare your palm circumference with the FINNTRAIL glove size chart. If your measurement falls between two sizes, choosing the larger size is usually more practical.
Size Palm Circumference, cm S 19–20 M 21–22 L 23–24 XL 25–26 Why Is the Correct Glove Size Important?
Gloves should fit securely around the hand without restricting movement. The correct size allows you to comfortably hold a fishing rod, handlebar, tools, or other equipment.
Important: gloves that are too tight may restrict circulation and reduce warmth, while gloves that are too loose may reduce grip and control accuracy. When Should You Choose a Larger Size?
- If your palm circumference falls between two sizes.
- If you prefer a slightly looser fit.
- If you will wear the gloves for long periods and maximum comfort is important.
- If you plan to wear a thin liner glove underneath.
Recommendation: for active use, choose a size that fits securely on the hand without restricting finger movement.Recommendation Before Ordering
Before ordering FINNTRAIL gloves, measure your palm circumference in centimeters and compare it with the size chart. Measure accurately around the palm, below the knuckles, without including the thumb.
Best result: provide your palm circumference in centimeters. This measurement allows the most accurate FINNTRAIL glove size recommendation.Summary
To choose the correct FINNTRAIL men’s glove size, the key measurement is palm circumference in centimeters. Wrap the measuring tape around the palm below the knuckles, without including the thumb. Correctly sized gloves provide comfort, reliable grip, and unrestricted movement.

Membrane waterproofing and breathability
Membrane fabric is usually described using two numbers, often separated by a slash: waterproofness and breathability. The first number indicates waterproofness, the second indicates breathability.
?Waterproofing
This is a sliding scale measured in mm that shows how high a column of water you can suspend over the membrane before it starts to let moisture through.
Waterproof Rating Conditions 0–10,000 mm Light rain, dry snow, light pressure. 11,000–15,000 mm Moderate rain, average snow, light pressure. 16,000–20,000 mm Heavy rain, wet snow, some pressure. 20,000 mm+ Heavy rain, wet snow, high pressure. ?Breathability
This is the amount of moisture by weight that can pass through one square metre of fabric over a period of 24 hours. It is commonly measured in g/m²/24 hrs.
Breathability Rating Level of Breathability 0–5,000 g/m²/24 hrs Low – light exercise. 5,000–15,000 g/m²/24 hrs Medium – medium to high energy activity. 15,000 g/m²/24 hrs+ High – vigorous sustained activity.
