Which gloves should you choose?
Finntrail gloves fall into two groups: warm winter gloves, most with a membrane and insulation, and light warm-season gloves made of neoprene or stretch fabric. For winter fishing and snowmobiling choose warm gloves; for summer ATV riding and fishing in damp weather choose light ones. Fingered gloves let you handle your gear, mittens are warmer.
How to choose, who they are not for, and FAQ
Who they are for
- •Ice fishing in winter, when your hands spend long hours in the cold and wet.
- •ATV, snowmobile and enduro riders: some models have a reinforced palm and knuckle protection.
- •Fishing while wading and work in wet conditions: neoprene gloves keep you warm even when wet.
How to choose
First decide whether you need warmth or just grip and protection from moisture. The manufacturer rates the warm gloves from −10 to −45 °C, while the light ones have no insulation.

WAVE 2850, WAVE NEW 2852 What gloves are not for
- •One pair for the whole year. In warm gloves your hands sweat in summer, in light ones they freeze in winter, so most people need two pairs.
- •Mittens for fine work. Tying on a lure or using your phone in mittens is awkward; for that choose fingered gloves or NEOSENSOR 2731 with open fingertips.
- •Sun protection on the water in summer. No UPF rating is given for the warm and light gloves; the WAVE UV protection gloves have it.
Frequently asked questions
Fingered gloves or mittens?
Fingered gloves let you handle a rod, handlebars or tools without taking them off. Mittens are warmer, so for the hardest frost choose NORDIC 2942 or MASTER 2943. LOBSTER 2800 is in between: two fingers together, the thumb and index finger separate.
Which gloves should I choose for ATV riding?
In summer choose the light, ventilated ATOM 2842 or ENDURO 2732 with a reinforced palm. In the cool, damp season the membrane GT 2790 works well, and in the cold and on a snowmobile choose IMPACT 2712 with carbon knuckle protection.
What glove size should I choose?
A glove must not press on your fingertips, and a winter glove is worth taking with a little room to spare. Measurements are in the size guide, and if the size is wrong you can return or exchange them within 30 days.
Can I use my phone with gloves on?
Yes, VENOM 2706 and ATOM 2842 have touchscreen fingertips. NEOSENSOR 2731 has three open fingertips, and on OPTYMUS 2702 you fold back the finger covers and fasten them with a magnet.
