How to choose

- •As the outer layer on the ice. Fleece and MASTER jackets do not hold off wet snow and strong wind for long; over them you need a membrane suit.
- •ALL SEASON 6206 on its own in severe frost. The manufacturer rates it down to −15 °C; for a colder day take THERMO S 6304 or MERINO 6209.
- •MASTER HYBRID 1507 for long hours sitting in hard frost. The stretch side panels release excess heat as you move, so this jacket is better suited to walking.
Frequently asked questions
What should I wear on my legs if I sit on a box all day?
Thermal underwear next to the skin, with POLAR 1400 or SHERPA 1402 fleece trousers over it. Both trousers have reinforced knees, so they hold up longer to kneeling by the hole and to rubbing while sitting.
Merino or synthetic underwear for a fishing trip of several days?
For a trip of several days MERINO 6209 is more convenient, because wool naturally picks up less odour. For a single day with lots of drilling and walking, the synthetic THERMO S 6304, which wicks sweat quickly, is enough.
Can I take off the mid layer while walking to my spot?
Yes, and it is worth doing. For walking with gear, the base layer and suit are enough; pack the fleece jumper or MASTER jacket in your backpack and put it on when you arrive, before you get cold.
Why do I get cold even though I wear a warm fleece?
Most often because a damp layer stayed under the fleece. If you wear cotton next to your skin, sweat from drilling does not evaporate and chills you. Replace it with thermal underwear that wicks moisture outwards.
