Materials & technology
Rubber outsole with tread
A deep tread bites into mud, silt and wet rocks, so your step stays firm where an ordinary sole slips. The rubber is abrasion-resistant and grips on hard surfaces too.
Drainage system
Holes at the bottom of the shaft let out water that has got inside. Just press your foot down and the water drains away, so the boot doesn’t get heavier and dries faster.
EVA midsole
An elastic polymer with good cushioning: it absorbs shocks, reduces the load on your foot and lets you move comfortably all day.
Cordura tongue
A tough nylon fabric, resistant to rubbing and mechanical damage, extending the boot’s service life.
High shaft and reinforced zones
The high construction stabilises the ankle and reduces the risk of sprains, while the reinforced toe, heel and sides protect your foot from impacts off-road.
How it differs from ordinary rubber or hiking boots
Care
After a trip rinse the mud off with clean water, especially the tread and the seams. Once dry, spray the boots with an impregnator (Mountval Protector) so water beads off again. Dry at room temperature or in a boot dryer on low, not near a radiator: heat damages the membrane and the glue. Odour inside is handled by a spray (Mountval Odour Absorber).

Are these boots waterproof?
These are wading boots used with waders, not waterproof boots. Your foot is kept dry by the neoprene sock of the waders, while the boot provides grip and protection. The boot has drainage holes, so any water that gets inside drains out.
Can I wear them without waders?
Yes, you can also wear the boots on their own for the active outdoors or off-road. Just remember the upper is not sealed: when wading deeper, water will get inside and drain out through the drainage.
What size should I choose if I wear them with waders?
Wading boots are worn over the neoprene sock of the waders, and their sizing is already adjusted for being worn with a 4 mm neoprene sock, so choose your usual size. If you are not sure, message us and we will help you pick.
Does the sole grip well on wet rocks?
Yes. The rubber outsole with a deep tread provides reliable grip on mud, rocks and mixed terrain, while the high shaft stabilises the ankle so your step stays firm.
Do the boots handle heavy use?
Yes. The upper is made of tough, durable material, the tongue is Cordura fabric, and the toe, heel and side zones are reinforced to protect against impacts and abrasion. The EVA midsole absorbs shocks and makes long use easier.

Choosing the correct footwear size is important not only for comfort but also for safety. Boots that are too small may compress the foot, restrict circulation, and cause discomfort, while oversized footwear may reduce stability, create friction, and make walking in water or mud more difficult.
FINNTRAIL wading boots are designed to accommodate both the neoprene stockingfoot of waders and a medium-thickness sock. Therefore, sizing should be selected according to your actual foot length in centimeters, rather than your everyday shoe size.
Measure Your Foot Length
Measure the length of your foot from the heel to the tip of your longest toe. It is recommended to take measurements in the evening, when feet are naturally slightly larger after daily activity.
How to measure: stand on a sheet of paper, mark the position of your heel and longest toe, then measure the distance between these points in centimeters.If one foot is slightly longer than the other, always use the measurement of the longer foot.

Wading boots are not ordinary everyday footwear. They are designed to be worn together with waders that feature neoprene stockingfeet. Therefore, the boot must provide sufficient space for both the neoprene stockingfoot and a medium-thickness sock.
Important: FINNTRAIL wading boots are already designed to account for the thickness of neoprene stockingfeet. There is no need to order a larger size than indicated by your actual foot length.Oversizing excessively may reduce foot support, decrease stability, and increase friction during walking.
When Should You Choose a Larger Size?
A larger size may be appropriate only in certain situations.
- If your foot length falls between two sizes.
- If you have particularly wide feet.
- If you plan to wear thicker thermal socks in cold weather.

Cleaning After Use
After every fishing trip, rinse the boots with clean water to remove mud, sand and small stones that may damage the material or seams.
If the boots were used in saltwater or extremely muddy conditions, rinse them thoroughly.
Washing the Boots
If the boots are heavily soiled, clean them by hand using water and a soft brush. Machine washing is not recommended.
If necessary, use specialized cleaning products designed for technical outdoor footwear.
Proper Drying
After washing or use, allow the boots to dry naturally at room temperature with the insoles removed.
