Finntrail SHADOW 3L Black 1303 Long Rain Coat
A long hooded membrane rain coat that covers well below the waist and waits for its downpour. A breathable membrane in a 3-layer construction (3L), a water-repellent DWR finish, YKK hardware and a magnetic storm flap: protection from rain and wind that still breathes and lets you move.

When it shines
It performs best in a wet autumn and spring, in long rain and wind, where a short jacket leaves your thighs exposed and a cheap raincoat leaves you sweaty inside. It is a protective outer layer, not a warm winter garment: in the cold, wear a fleece or a thermal layer underneath.

Materials & technology
Breathable membrane, 3-layer construction (3L)
The membrane is bonded between the outer fabric and an inner protective layer. It holds moisture off from outside yet lets sweat vapour escape, and three bonded layers make the fabric more durable and pleasant to wear without a separate lining.
DWR finish
A thin water-repellent finish on the outer layer: rain beads and rolls off, the fabric wets out less and dries faster. It wears down over time, so it is refreshed with a proofing product.
YKK hardware
Reliable zippers and fittings built for heavy use. They keep running smoothly after long wear outdoors and protect the closure from moisture.
Magnetic storm flap
Covers the front closure and snaps shut with magnets, so it closes by itself, there are no press studs to line up and wind cannot lift the flap.
How it differs from a cheaper option
Care
Wash up to 30 °C with a dedicated membrane wash (e.g. Mountval Wash & Care), without softener or bleach. Restore the water repellency (DWR) with Mountval Textile Shield. Dry naturally, not on a radiator. Repair minor membrane damage with a dedicated adhesive (Aquaseal / Aquasure) on a clean, dry surface.
