Which gloves let you feel the clutch and brake?
Finntrail OFF-ROAD gloves protect your hands from branches, mud and wind, yet leave your fingers the feel you need for the clutch and brake. The range has three groups: light gloves for the warm season, membrane or warmer gloves for cool weather and neoprene gloves for wet conditions. For most riders ENDURO 2732 or ATOM 2842 is enough for the enduro season, and GT 2790 is worth having for autumn rain.
How to choose, who they are not for, and FAQ
Who they are for
- •A hot day on the track: ENDURO 2732 is well ventilated, and ATOM 2842 has a perforated suede palm, so your hands sweat less.
- •Riders who navigate with a phone: with ATOM 2842 and VENOM 2706 you can use a touchscreen without taking your gloves off.
- •Autumn and spring rain: GT 2790 with a membrane, a leather palm and non-slip fingertips is made for temperatures down to about −10 °C.
- •A cold morning: VENOM 2706 in softshell with microfleece and a rubber palm keeps your hands warm down to −15 °C.
How to choose
The thinner the glove, the more precisely you feel the levers. So choose the thinnest pair in which your fingers still stay warm in your weather, and keep a second pair for the cold season.
Weather and riding Best for Models Warm, lots of movement The warm season: a light stretchy fabric, a reinforced palm and ventilation. ENDURO 2732, ATOM 2842 Cool and wet Autumn and spring: a membrane, a DWR coating, a leather palm and a microfleece lining without insulation. GT 2790 Cold and dry Moderate frost: a softshell upper with a DWR coating, microfleece and a rubber palm. VENOM 2706 Wet hands when you stop Neoprene, which keeps you warm even when wet. More for working on your machine and for stops than for riding. NEOGUARD 2740, NEOSENSOR 2731 What these gloves are not for
- •Impact protection. The palms are reinforced against abrasion, but the gloves have no certified knuckle protectors.
- •Winter in the light ENDURO 2732 and ATOM 2842. They are made for the warm season; for the cold choose VENOM 2706.
- •Fast riding in NEOSENSOR 2731. Three fingertips of these gloves are open, so they are made for precise handwork, not for the handlebars.
- •Downpours in VENOM 2706 or the neoprene gloves. They are water resistant but have no membrane; for rain take GT 2790.
Frequently asked questions
Do thin gloves protect your hands well enough off-road?
Against abrasion, branches and mud, yes: Finntrail ENDURO 2732 and ATOM 2842 gloves have a reinforced palm. They do not protect against hitting an obstacle, because they have no knuckle protectors.
Which gloves should I take for autumn rain on a motorbike?
Finntrail GT 2790 gloves: they have a membrane and a DWR coating, a leather palm and non-slip fingertips. According to the specification they suit cool, wet weather down to about −10 °C.
Will my phone screen work with gloves on?
With ATOM 2842 and VENOM 2706, yes: the fingertips of these models work with a touchscreen. ENDURO 2732 and GT 2790 have no such feature in their specification, so you will have to take a glove off to use your navigation.
What size gloves should I take for riding?
Snug, but not tight: a glove that is too tight pulls on the fabric when you squeeze the clutch, and your hand tires faster. If they do not fit, you can exchange them within 30 days; measurements are in the size guide.
