Lightweight storm pants for the rainy, windy day you have to see through outdoors. A Toray® Dermizax membrane in a 2.5-layer fabric (20,000 mm, 10,000 g/m²/24h), a DWR finish, fully taped seams and waterproof YKK zippers: protection from rain and wind that still breathes and lets you move.

Materials & technology
Toray® Dermizax membrane (2.5-layer fabric)
A high-tech Japanese membrane for active use: it combines high water resistance (20,000 mm) with breathability (10,000 g/m²/24h) and protects from wind, moisture and condensation, so you don’t overheat inside.
DWR finish
A thin water-repellent finish on the outer layer: rain beads and rolls off, the fabric wets out less and dries faster.
Fully taped seams
Taped strips seal the needle holes so water cannot get in through the seams, which is where cheap rainwear usually fails first.
Waterproof YKK zippers
Japanese YKK zippers with laminated zipper protection: smooth action, long service life and a shorter path for moisture to get in.
Side zippers to knee level
Open the sides and you pull the pants straight on over your boots, then take them off when the sky clears, without stopping to change.
Ergonomic knee and inseam construction
The anatomical cut keeps the fabric from pulling across the knees, so walking, stepping into a boat or crouching stays comfortable.
How they differ from a cheaper option
Care
Wash up to 30 °C with a dedicated membrane wash (e.g. Mountval Wash & Care), without softener or bleach: ordinary detergent clogs the membrane. Restore the water repellency (DWR) with Mountval Textile Shield once water stops beading off. Dry naturally, not on a radiator. Repair minor membrane damage with a dedicated adhesive (Aquaseal / Aquasure) on a clean, dry surface.

Do the THUNDER 1305 pants breathe, or will I sweat?
They breathe: breathability is 10,000 g/m²/24h. The Toray® Dermizax membrane lets sweat vapour out while keeping rain and wind off from outside, so you stay dry inside even when active.
What is the waterproof rating?
The Finntrail THUNDER 1305 membrane is Toray® Dermizax in a 2.5-layer fabric: water resistance 20,000 mm, breathability 10,000 g/m²/24h. Seams are fully taped, zippers are waterproof YKK, and the surface has a DWR finish.
Can I put them on without taking my boots off?
Yes. Waterproof YKK side zippers run up to knee level, so you pull the pants straight on over your boots and take them off just as quickly. A concealed hem adjustment cinches the leg opening.
Are they warm?
They have no insulation: these are rain pants, not winter pants. On a colder day wear a base layer or fleece pants underneath, and for hard frost choose an insulated bib instead.
What sizes are available, and what does MK mean?
The Finntrail THUNDER 1305 pants come in S, M, MK, L, XL, XXL and XXXL. MK stands for Medium King, a separate variant of the M line, so check your measurements against the size chart before ordering.
