Wading boots with a mud-free sole: mud does not pack into it, so your step stays solid and the boot does not get heavy. The Finntrail SPORTSMAN Blue 5198 boots are built for the ATV rider and the angler whose day runs through mud. The sole pattern is designed so that mud clears itself out instead of clogging up the way an ordinary tread does. Drainage ports release the water that gets inside, the high shaft supports the ankle, the heel loop lets you pull them on fast, and the reinforced material takes on branches and stones.

Mud-free sole
The sole geometry is arranged so mud drops out of the gaps as you move. After a clay bank the boot does not end up with a flat, clogged sole and keeps biting.
Reinforced material
The upper is reinforced where branches, stones and the ATV footrest do the most damage, so the boot survives an intensive season.
High shaft
The tall build fixes the ankle and gives support when you climb out of the water onto a slippery bank or walk over uneven ground.
Drainage ports
Water that got inside runs out by itself, so the boot does not get heavy, dries faster and your foot gets less cold.
Heel loop
The loop lets you pull the boots on and off without help, even when your hands are cold or muddy.
How they differ from felt soled boots
Care
After a trip rinse the mud off with clean water, especially the tread and the seams. Once dry, spray the boots with an impregnator (Mountval Protector) so water beads off again. Dry at room temperature or in a boot dryer on low, not near a radiator: heat damages the membrane and the glue. Odour inside is handled by a spray (Mountval Odour Absorber).

These are wading boots, worn over the neoprene sock of your waders, so it is the waders that keep you dry, not the boot. Any water that gets inside drains out through the ports.
What size should I take if I wear them with waders?
Take wading boots larger than your everyday size, because the neoprene sock and a warm sock stay inside. Tell us your usual size and your wader model and we will pick the right one.
How do I care for them so they last?

Wading boots are not ordinary everyday footwear. They are designed to be worn together with waders that feature neoprene stockingfeet. Therefore, the boot must provide sufficient space for both the neoprene stockingfoot and a medium-thickness sock.
