Finntrail DELTA Graphite 5242 Wading Boots
Top-tier wading boots with a Michelin® sole and an Atop® quick-fit system: a firm footing on the slipperiest rocks and a precise fit in a single motion. A Michelin® sole, high ankle support and a reinforced construction with protective layers over the toe, heel and sides: maximum grip, stability and protection when fishing in waders and wading rivers and lakes in the most demanding conditions, while water drains out through the strategically placed drainage ports.
Who it is for
Made for the experienced, demanding angler who values grip, ankle support and protection while wading in the toughest conditions above all.
- •Wading rivers and lakes in waders, when you need the surest footing on slippery rocks.
- •Extreme conditions, where stability and protection matter all day long.
- •Those who value a fast, precise fit in a single motion, without laces.
- •Those who choose the flagship of the range and the highest level of gear.
When it shines
It performs best on the slipperiest and most demanding terrain: wet rocks, silt, mud and steep slopes. The Michelin® sole grips where an ordinary sole slips, and the Atop® system delivers a fast, firm fit in a single motion that will not come loose while wading.
Technical specs
Materials & technology
Michelin® sole
A top-tier rubber sole technology built on the expertise of a tyre manufacturer. It ensures outstanding grip on wet rocks, silt and steep slopes where an ordinary sole slips, along with durability and stability in extreme conditions.
Atop® quick-fit system
A dial closure instead of ordinary laces. In a single turn the boot conforms to your foot precisely and evenly, and the closure will not come loose on its own while wading or walking on demanding terrain.
High ankle support
The high construction supports the ankle and reduces the risk of sprains, so your footing stays stable while walking and wading in waders.
Protective layers
Reinforced protective layers over the toe, heel and sides shield the foot from impacts, rocks and mechanical damage in extreme conditions.
Strategic drainage system
Strategically placed ports release water that has got inside. A quick press of the foot and the water is gone, so the boot does not get heavier and dries faster. An integrated D-ring and an updated heel loop make use with waders easier.
How it differs from ordinary wading boots
Care
After use, rinse off the mud with clean water, especially the Michelin® tread and the drainage ports. Keep the Atop® closure mechanism clean: remove sand and mud so the dial system runs smoothly. Dry naturally, not on a radiator or in the sun: high heat damages the adhesives and the sole. If the inside gets damp, take out the insoles and dry them separately. Store the boots dry, in a well-ventilated place.
Frequently asked questions
Are these boots waterproof?
These are wading boots used with waders, not waterproof boots. Your foot is kept dry by the neoprene stocking of the waders, while the boot provides grip and protection. The boot has strategically placed drainage ports, so any water that gets inside drains out.
What makes the Michelin® sole better?
Michelin® soles are built on the expertise of a tyre manufacturer and are renowned for grip, durability and stability in extreme conditions. On wet rocks, silt and steep slopes they hold more reliably than an ordinary rubber sole, so your footing stays firm on the most demanding terrain.
How does the Atop® closure work?
Atop® is a dial closure system instead of ordinary laces. Turning the dial lets you adjust the fit precisely and evenly, and the boot conforms to your foot in a single motion. The closure is fast, firm and will not come loose on its own while wading or walking.
Can I wear them without waders?
Yes, you can also wear the boots on their own. Just remember that the upper is not sealed: wading deeper, water will get inside and drain out through the drainage ports.
What size should I choose if I wear them with waders?
Wading boots are worn over the neoprene stocking of the waders, and their sizing is already adjusted to be worn with a 4 mm neoprene stocking, so choose your usual size. If you are unsure, message us and we will help you pick.

How to Choose the Correct FINNTRAIL Men's Footwear Size
Choosing the correct footwear size is important not only for comfort but also for safety. Boots that are too small may compress the foot, restrict circulation, and cause discomfort, while oversized footwear may reduce stability, create friction, and make walking in water or mud more difficult.
FINNTRAIL wading boots are designed to accommodate both the neoprene stockingfoot of waders and a medium-thickness sock. Therefore, sizing should be selected according to your actual foot length in centimeters, rather than your everyday shoe size.
Measure Your Foot Length
Measure the length of your foot from the heel to the tip of your longest toe. It is recommended to take measurements in the evening, when feet are naturally slightly larger after daily activity.
How to measure: stand on a sheet of paper, mark the position of your heel and longest toe, then measure the distance between these points in centimeters. If one foot is slightly longer than the other, always use the measurement of the longer foot.
Select Your Size Using the Chart
Compare your measured foot length with the FINNTRAIL size chart. For example, if your foot length is 28 cm, the recommended size is 43 (10).
EU / US Size Foot Length, cm 38 (5) 23 39 (6) 24 40 (7) 25 41 (8) 26 42 (9) 27 43 (10) 28 44 (11) 29 45 (12) 30 46 (13) 31 47 (14) 32 Why Are FINNTRAIL Wading Boots Sized Differently?
Wading boots are not ordinary everyday footwear. They are designed to be worn together with waders that feature neoprene stockingfeet. Therefore, the boot must provide sufficient space for both the neoprene stockingfoot and a medium-thickness sock.
Important: FINNTRAIL wading boots are already designed to account for the thickness of neoprene stockingfeet. There is no need to order a larger size than indicated by your actual foot length.Oversizing excessively may reduce foot support, decrease stability, and increase friction during walking.
When Should You Choose a Larger Size?
A larger size may be appropriate only in certain situations.
- If your foot length falls between two sizes.
- If you have particularly wide feet.
- If you plan to wear thicker thermal socks in cold weather.
- If the boots will be used for long-distance walking and additional room is preferred.
Recommendation: if you are between two sizes, it is generally better to choose the larger option, but avoid sizing up more than necessary.Note About Wet Wading Shoes
Wet wading shoes may fit approximately 1.5 sizes larger than standard footwear. When selecting this type of footwear, always consider the specific model and intended use.
Note: this recommendation applies specifically to wet wading shoes. Standard FINNTRAIL wading boots should be selected according to the foot length chart above.Recommendation Before Ordering
Before placing your order, measure your foot length in centimeters and compare it with the size chart. If you will be wearing the boots with waders, wet wading socks, or thermal socks, consider the complete layering system when choosing your size.
Best results: provide your foot length in centimeters and specify whether the boots will be worn with waders, wet wading socks, or thicker thermal socks.Summary
To choose the correct FINNTRAIL men's footwear size, the most important measurement is your foot length in centimeters. FINNTRAIL wading boots are already designed to accommodate neoprene stockingfeet, so there is no need to increase your size unnecessarily. If your measurement falls between two sizes or you have wider feet, choosing the larger size may provide a better fit.
Wading Boots Care
Wading boots are constantly exposed to moisture, sand, mud and abrasion from rocks. Proper care helps maintain their durability, grip and comfort.
Cleaning After Use
After every fishing trip, rinse the boots with clean water to remove mud, sand and small stones that may damage the material or seams.
If the boots were used in saltwater or extremely muddy conditions, rinse them thoroughly.
Washing the Boots
If the boots are heavily soiled, clean them by hand using water and a soft brush. Machine washing is not recommended.
If necessary, use specialized cleaning products designed for technical outdoor footwear.
Proper Drying
After washing or use, allow the boots to dry naturally at room temperature with the insoles removed.
Avoid drying them on radiators or using hot air heaters.
Regular Care
Regular cleaning and proper drying help maintain grip on slippery rocks, stability in water and comfort during long fishing trips.

Membrane waterproofing and breathability
Membrane fabric is usually described using two numbers, often separated by a slash: waterproofness and breathability. The first number indicates waterproofness, the second indicates breathability.
?Waterproofing
This is a sliding scale measured in mm that shows how high a column of water you can suspend over the membrane before it starts to let moisture through.
Waterproof Rating Conditions 0–10,000 mm Light rain, dry snow, light pressure. 11,000–15,000 mm Moderate rain, average snow, light pressure. 16,000–20,000 mm Heavy rain, wet snow, some pressure. 20,000 mm+ Heavy rain, wet snow, high pressure. ?Breathability
This is the amount of moisture by weight that can pass through one square metre of fabric over a period of 24 hours. It is commonly measured in g/m²/24 hrs.
Breathability Rating Level of Breathability 0–5,000 g/m²/24 hrs Low – light exercise. 5,000–15,000 g/m²/24 hrs Medium – medium to high energy activity. 15,000 g/m²/24 hrs+ High – vigorous sustained activity.
