A women's base layer for severe cold, from 0 °C to −30 °C. The polyester fibre wicks moisture away from the skin, and the neck zip lets you dump excess heat quickly when you start moving harder.

Made for severe cold
The range is from 0 °C to −30 °C. This is one of the warmest base layers we carry, made specifically for standing outside for long periods.
Neck zip
When you start moving and it gets too warm, the zip lets you release excess heat quickly and avoid getting damp inside.
Polyester, not cotton
Polyester wicks moisture and dries fast. In the cold, cotton does the opposite: it soaks up sweat, stays damp and chills you.
Care
Wash at 30 °C on a gentle cycle with a detergent made for wool and merino (Mountval Wool Wash). Skip the softener: it coats the fibre and the base layer stops wicking moisture. Odour is handled by a rinse-cycle freshener (Mountval Silver Freshness). Dry flat, away from radiators and direct sun.

How does layering work?
The first layer wicks moisture from the skin, the second holds warmth, the third keeps out wind and water. A base layer is the first of these: its job is not to warm you but to stop you getting wet from the inside. It is damp skin, not cold air, that usually decides whether you get cold.
How does it differ from the ALLSEASON?
SUBZERO W is made for severe cold down to −30 °C, while ALLSEASON covers a wider, milder range from +15 °C to −15 °C. Choose according to whether you stand in the cold more or keep moving.
Is it suitable for active movement?
It is, but if you move hard the whole time it may be too warm. In that case ALLSEASON or TACTIC is the better choice.
