How to choose
First decide what you need protection from: cold, rain, or wind and sun. The manufacturer gives temperature ratings for hats and socks, which makes them easiest to compare.

- •Long rain in a hat without a membrane. For a rainy day choose HAT WATERPROOF or SPORT with a membrane.
- •Long walks on dry land in neoprene socks. Neoprene does not breathe and your feet will sweat, so for walking choose merino or COOLMAX socks.
- •The Finntrail 8110 braces are designed for RUNNER waders. If you have another model, ask us before buying whether they will fit.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between COOLMAX and merino socks?
COOLMAX socks are made for the warm season and movement: they wick sweat and dry quickly. Merino socks keep you warm; the manufacturer rates MERINO LONG 3206 from 5 °C to −15 °C, and EXTREME MERINO 3203 is the warmest in the line.
Which hat suits standing for long in the cold by an ice hole?
Choose the SPORT 9715 hat: it has a membrane, a 5,000 mm waterproof rating, and the manufacturer rates it down to −25 °C. If it is less cold but raining, HAT WATERPROOF 9729 with a membrane, rated down to −10 °C, will do.
Does the RAVEN balaclava fit under a helmet?
Yes, the Finntrail RAVEN 9725 balaclava is made for snowmobiling and ergonomically cut to wear under a helmet. The neoprene deflector directs exhaled air downwards so the visor does not fog, and the fleece lining keeps your face, neck and chest warm.
How can the TUBE neck gaiter be worn?
The Finntrail TUBE 9800 neck gaiter can be worn as neck protection, a bandana, a face mask or a thin hat; it is one size and has UPF 50. TUBEPRO 9811 is a seamless tube with eight ways to wear it.
Which belt should I choose for waders?
Choose the wide Finntrail 8101 belt: it is designed for waders and outdoor clothing, spreads the load more evenly and holds your waist firmly. The Finntrail 8100 belt is for everyday wear, and for RUNNER waders there are the separate 8110 braces.
