Finntrail EXPLORER 100L Black 1728 Bag
A 100 litre backpack in cold resistant rubberised PVC: IP64 protection from rain, snow and splashes, rated down to –40 °C. The Finntrail EXPLORER 100L Black 1728 backpack is built for expeditions where gear travels through mud and snow. Two zippers open up almost the whole bag, and a wide flap covers them from moisture. Anatomically shaped straps let you carry the load a short distance, the extra handle helps with loading and unloading, and side straps compress the volume when you pack light.

When it shines
Best on a rainy, snowy or muddy day: the IP64 rating protects against splashes and snow, rubberised PVC does not crack in the cold, and the –40 °C rating means the material stays flexible in winter too.

Materials & technology
Rubberised PVC
Thick rubberised PVC does not soak up water and survives rubbing against an ATV frame or a boat floor, while in the cold it does not harden or crack.
IP64 protection
The rating means dust and splashes cannot get in from any direction. That is protection from rain, snow and mud, but not from submersion.
Two zippers under a flap
Two zippers open the bag wide, so you find things at once. The wide flap covers them, so moisture does not get in through the weakest point.
Anatomically shaped straps
The straps follow the shoulder, so a full pack is comfortable to carry from the car to the spot without pressing on your neck.
Adjustable volume
Side straps compress the bag when you pack less, so the contents do not roll around and the pack keeps its shape.
How it differs from an ordinary hiking backpack
Care
Wipe clean with a damp cloth, rinse caked-on mud with clean water and do not machine wash. Dry it open at room temperature. Restore the water repellency with an impregnator (Mountval Textile Shield), especially on the bottom and the seams. Do not store it folded while damp, so the material and the seams last longer.
Frequently asked questions
Can the backpack be submerged in water?
No. IP64 means protection from dust and splashes from every direction, that is from rain, snow and mud. For submersion and floating choose our roll-top bags with an IP66 rating, such as the HUGE ROLL 120L.
How much fits into 100 litres?
Enough for a weekend expedition: waders, a jacket, spare clothes, a thermos and gear. When you pack lighter, the side straps compress the bag so the contents do not shift.
Is it comfortable to carry on the back for a long way?
The straps are anatomically shaped and meant for short distances, for example from the car to the boat or camp. For long treks under load we have smaller backpacks with a firmer back system.
Will the material stiffen in the cold?
Rubberised PVC was chosen exactly because of the cold: the rated limit is –40 °C, so the material stays flexible in winter as well.
How do I care for it?

Product delivery
We receive goods at our central warehouse twice per week: on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Depending on the order submission time, goods are included in the corresponding delivery cycle:

Returns

- Products can be returned within 30 days from the date of receipt.
- The returned item must be unused, with all tags attached and in the original packaging.
- Returns are free within Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. From other countries the return shipment is paid by the buyer.
- In Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, together with the notification about the delivered parcel you will receive a return code allowing you to return the item via any parcel locker.
