Finntrail BLIZZARD ATOP Graphite 5234 Snow Boots
Insulated snowmobile boots with the ATOP quick-lacing dial and a removable inner boot, built for long rides in hard cold. The inner boot with 1,200 g Thermalrate insulation holds the heat and dries fast, the HARD-TEX membrane with a water-repellent finish keeps out snow and moisture, and the outsole with an EVA layer cuts heat loss through the sole.
Who it is for
Made for long winter trips in hard cold, when you ride a snowmobile or stay out for hours and your feet can neither freeze nor get wet.
- •For long snowmobile rides in extreme conditions.
- •For ice fishing and long hours on the ice.
- •For winter work outdoors, where foot warmth and impact protection matter.
When they work best
Best where boots must be tightened precisely and fast, even with gloves on. The ATOP dial tightens in one movement, so a stop on the trail does not mean pulling off gloves and tying laces in the cold.
Technical data
Materials and technology
Dual-boot construction
A sturdy outer boot and a removable inner boot with 1,200 g Thermalrate insulation. The pair holds heat in hard cold, and the inner boot can be taken out and dried overnight so the next morning you put on a dry boot.
ATOP quick-lacing system
A dial on the side tightens the boot in one movement, gloves on as well, and releases with a single press. In the cold that means a stop on the trail does not turn into tying laces bare-handed.
HARD-TEX membrane
A breathable membrane with a water-repellent finish stops water and snow coming through the material and lets moisture out from the inside, so the foot stays dry through a longer trip as well.
Protection and movement
Rubber toe and heel reinforcements guard against impact and wear in winter conditions, while the stretch panel at the ankle leaves freedom of movement, so the foot is not clamped during a long ride.
How they differ from ordinary winter boots
Care
Rinse off mud with clean water after use, and clean heavy dirt with a soft brush. Do not machine wash. Take the inner boot out and dry it separately at room temperature, not on a radiator and not by a fire: heat damages the insulation and the membrane. Store dry and ventilated.
Frequently asked questions
How do Blizzard Atop differ from Blizzard 5226?
The closure and the insulation differ. Blizzard Atop has the ATOP quick-lacing dial instead of laces and 1,200 g Thermalrate insulation in the removable inner boot. Blizzard 5226 uses laces and Cotton Insulation. The manufacturer rates both for the same hard cold.
How much cold do these boots take?
The manufacturer rates them down to −75 °C. ⚠ That is the manufacturer figure with the proper inner boot and a warm sock; in practice your sock, your movement and how long you stand still all matter.
Are the boots waterproof?
The HARD-TEX membrane with a water-repellent finish stops water and snow coming through the material and lets moisture out from the inside. ⚠ These are snow boots, not waders: they are not made for standing in water.
What is the removable inner boot for?
For two things. First, it lets you dry the boot overnight, as a boot taken out dries far faster than a one-piece inside. Second, the inner boot can be replaced without replacing the whole boot.
How does the ATOP system work?
It is a dial on the side: turning it tightens the boot in one movement, gloves on as well, and releasing is a single press. The practical benefit is simple, in the cold you do not pull off gloves to tie laces.
Which size should I take?
Winter boots are worn with a warm sock, so take your usual size, or one size up if you plan a thick wool sock. Available sizes run from 40 to 46. Not sure, write to us and we will help you choose.

How to Choose the Correct FINNTRAIL Men's Footwear Size
Choosing the correct footwear size is important not only for comfort but also for safety. Boots that are too small may compress the foot, restrict circulation, and cause discomfort, while oversized footwear may reduce stability, create friction, and make walking in water or mud more difficult.
FINNTRAIL wading boots are designed to accommodate both the neoprene stockingfoot of waders and a medium-thickness sock. Therefore, sizing should be selected according to your actual foot length in centimeters, rather than your everyday shoe size.
Measure Your Foot Length
Measure the length of your foot from the heel to the tip of your longest toe. It is recommended to take measurements in the evening, when feet are naturally slightly larger after daily activity.
How to measure: stand on a sheet of paper, mark the position of your heel and longest toe, then measure the distance between these points in centimeters. If one foot is slightly longer than the other, always use the measurement of the longer foot.
Select Your Size Using the Chart
Compare your measured foot length with the FINNTRAIL size chart. For example, if your foot length is 28 cm, the recommended size is 43 (10).
EU / US Size Foot Length, cm 38 (5) 23 39 (6) 24 40 (7) 25 41 (8) 26 42 (9) 27 43 (10) 28 44 (11) 29 45 (12) 30 46 (13) 31 47 (14) 32 Why Are FINNTRAIL Wading Boots Sized Differently?
Wading boots are not ordinary everyday footwear. They are designed to be worn together with waders that feature neoprene stockingfeet. Therefore, the boot must provide sufficient space for both the neoprene stockingfoot and a medium-thickness sock.
Important: FINNTRAIL wading boots are already designed to account for the thickness of neoprene stockingfeet. There is no need to order a larger size than indicated by your actual foot length.Oversizing excessively may reduce foot support, decrease stability, and increase friction during walking.
When Should You Choose a Larger Size?
A larger size may be appropriate only in certain situations.
- If your foot length falls between two sizes.
- If you have particularly wide feet.
- If you plan to wear thicker thermal socks in cold weather.
- If the boots will be used for long-distance walking and additional room is preferred.
Recommendation: if you are between two sizes, it is generally better to choose the larger option, but avoid sizing up more than necessary.Note About Wet Wading Shoes
Wet wading shoes may fit approximately 1.5 sizes larger than standard footwear. When selecting this type of footwear, always consider the specific model and intended use.
Note: this recommendation applies specifically to wet wading shoes. Standard FINNTRAIL wading boots should be selected according to the foot length chart above.Recommendation Before Ordering
Before placing your order, measure your foot length in centimeters and compare it with the size chart. If you will be wearing the boots with waders, wet wading socks, or thermal socks, consider the complete layering system when choosing your size.
Best results: provide your foot length in centimeters and specify whether the boots will be worn with waders, wet wading socks, or thicker thermal socks.Summary
To choose the correct FINNTRAIL men's footwear size, the most important measurement is your foot length in centimeters. FINNTRAIL wading boots are already designed to accommodate neoprene stockingfeet, so there is no need to increase your size unnecessarily. If your measurement falls between two sizes or you have wider feet, choosing the larger size may provide a better fit.
Wading Boots Care
Wading boots are constantly exposed to moisture, sand, mud and abrasion from rocks. Proper care helps maintain their durability, grip and comfort.
Cleaning After Use
After every fishing trip, rinse the boots with clean water to remove mud, sand and small stones that may damage the material or seams.
If the boots were used in saltwater or extremely muddy conditions, rinse them thoroughly.
Washing the Boots
If the boots are heavily soiled, clean them by hand using water and a soft brush. Machine washing is not recommended.
If necessary, use specialized cleaning products designed for technical outdoor footwear.
Proper Drying
After washing or use, allow the boots to dry naturally at room temperature with the insoles removed.
Avoid drying them on radiators or using hot air heaters.
Regular Care
Regular cleaning and proper drying help maintain grip on slippery rocks, stability in water and comfort during long fishing trips.

Membrane waterproofing and breathability
Membrane fabric is usually described using two numbers, often separated by a slash: waterproofness and breathability. The first number indicates waterproofness, the second indicates breathability.
?Waterproofing
This is a sliding scale measured in mm that shows how high a column of water you can suspend over the membrane before it starts to let moisture through.
Waterproof Rating Conditions 0–10,000 mm Light rain, dry snow, light pressure. 11,000–15,000 mm Moderate rain, average snow, light pressure. 16,000–20,000 mm Heavy rain, wet snow, some pressure. 20,000 mm+ Heavy rain, wet snow, high pressure. ?Breathability
This is the amount of moisture by weight that can pass through one square metre of fabric over a period of 24 hours. It is commonly measured in g/m²/24 hrs.
Breathability Rating Level of Breathability 0–5,000 g/m²/24 hrs Low – light exercise. 5,000–15,000 g/m²/24 hrs Medium – medium to high energy activity. 15,000 g/m²/24 hrs+ High – vigorous sustained activity.
